This wordsearch tests student recall of key facts about Whitechapel and is useful as a starter/plenary or end of term fun revision activity for students studying crime, punishment and policing at GCSE. Students have to find the answers to 15 questions and then locate the words in a wordsearch.
This walking talking mock takes 2 hours to teach. Each question is modeled and students are given a set amount of time to complete each question on an EDEXCEL exam paper. Modeled questions all come from past examination papers.
Yu will need to print an EDEXCEL past paper for students to complete throught the 2 hours (I always use June 2018). Modeled answers are accompanied by step by step instructions.

This lesson has been created to work on maximising marks on the Whitechapel historic environment section of the EDEXCEL GCSE history crime and punishment breadth study.
It goes through each part of the section using mark schemes and demonstrating model answers and addressing common mistakes. After each modeled answer. students are required to follow the techniques to answer questions on a different paper to the one modeled. The purpose is to work on avoiding traps that students fall into which costs them easy marks. There are also peer assessment opportunities.

This key stage 3 unit of work is based on the enquiry - Two wars or one with a 20 years ceasefire? It consists of 12 lessons and requires students to think about whether or not the First World War was ever concluded. It examines all second order concepts, but it is primarily based on being able to demonstrate cause and consequence. All lessons are fully resourced.
These are the 11th and 12 th lessons which involve a creative assessment activity following finishing the content in lesson 10, a word search for individual completion and a grou quiz.
Duration 1 hour
This resource doubles up as an assembly and/or a lesson suitable for Bastille day 2024. The assembly is contained in the first part of the power point and looks at the Bastille day celebrations through the use of clips; images and information, and links it to the story of the French Revolution. It takes between 20 and 30 minutes to deliver.
The assembly could also be used as an introduction to a lesson on the French Revolution, and the second part of the power point contains a lesson about the causes of the French Revolution using source materials and an extended writing task.
The lesson is suitable for either key stage 3 or the older students in key stage 2
This assembly was designed to demonstrate the significance of Bastille Day as a French holiday. It highlights the celebrations that take place in France every year on the 14th July, and links them to the storming of the Bastille and the importance of the French Revolution.
This contains images; clips and explanations, and would take about 30 minutes to present, but some slides could be omitted if time is tight.
It could also be used as an introduction to a lesson on the French Revolution.
