This bundle contains one key stage 3 lesson which focuses on the long-term causes of the First World War, and one which focuses on the short-term causes (the spark). The lessons take one hour each to teach, and the assessment method is peer assessment and sharing criterion.

This lesson is the 2nd in a series of two lessons investigating the causes of the First World War. The focus of this lesson is the short-term cause (the spark). This lesson focuses on evaluating causes and reaching a conclusion about an historical interpretation. The key focus is cause and consequence, and it gets the students to start thinking about the causes of the First World War and evaluating their relative importance. Students have to identify information and fill in causation tables, and then complete an extended piece of writing evaluating an interpretation.

This is the SIXTH lesson on the constitution in the A Level scheme of work US government and politics, and the first lesson which considers the key features of the US constitution. The power point aims at recapping on previous knowledge and introducing an understanding of the separation of powers, and checks and balances aspect of the US Constitution. The lesson contains discussion and two detailed tasks. It is planned as a one hour lesson, but will probably take 2 hours to complete all of the activities and readings. This assembly is suitable for key stage 2 and 3 students, and lasts between 20-30 minutes depending on how much of it is delivered. It considers the importance of black history and highlights the journey from slavery to the most powerful man in the world. It demonstrates the cultural contribution of the black journey and includes 3 clips - the slave trade; Maya Angelou’s poem ‘still I rise’ and members of the black community stating what black history month means to them and why.

This assembly involves starts with the story of the origins and development of Halloween. It then develops with a quiz testing children’s listening and comprehension skills, and ends with some advice about keeping safe on Halloween night, and being respectful when trick or treating. There are twenty black/orange slides which create the mood, and lots of scary themed pictures. The assembly lasts about 20 minutes but can be extended to half an hour if necessary.

This is the fifteenth lesson on the A level democracy and dictatorships in Germany A Level Unit, and focuses on evaluating the Stresemann era in terms of whether the title ‘Golden Era’ can be justified. It contains research activities; examination question practice and clips to support learning. This lesson provides the opportunity to evaluate the whole of this period. This lesson takes an hour to teach, but students will have to complete significant home learning to finish all of the activities.

Both contain short clips telling the stories of the 2 events, and a quiz which gets the students involved in the stories. This is a fun Christmas activity for either an MFL lesson or a tutorial which gives the students the opportunity to share how they say Christmas in their own language. Pupils should either share or research the translation of Christmas in 21 European languages, and then find the words in the grid. This is suitable for all ages, but is a particularly useful activity for key stages 2 and 3.
