THE GUNPOWDER PLOT AND BONFIRE NIGHT SAFETY ASSEMBLY

This assembly is suitable for key stages 1 and 2, possibly 3 if you use the longer clip. It lasts between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on which clip you use). It is a fun interactive assembly which tells the story of the Gunpowder Plot and then involves a fun quiz to test recall and to get the children involved in the story. It links the plot to bonfire night and ends with some tips on firework safety.

This is the eleventh lesson in a series created for the A Level unit Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany. It considers the debate relating to the recovery of the economy under Stresemann, and involves activities requiring the students to evaluate evidence and reach conclusions in relation to different historical interpretations. It also introduces and requires students to write a 20 mark essay for homework. Ideally this lesson should be taught in conjunction with the Access to History, Democracies and Dictatorships in Germany, but other text books could be used to support it.

This is the twelfth lesson for the A Level democracy and dictatorships in Germany unit, and it focuses on an assessment of the perceived political stability of the Weimar Republic 1924-30. It looks at the difficulties of forming coalitions, but also the decline of extremism. Research into key person Paul Von Hindenburg. This lesson would take an hour to teach, but home learning would be needed to complete all of the activities.

Each can be laminated on either A4 or A3 and pupils can use them to understand what they are being asked to do. Person of the week display - a picture and a description of a key person for each week of the academic year. Can be changed each week to create an changing display. A key event in history - picture and description - for each day of the academic year. Can be changed daily to introduce knowledge of an ever growing number of key events to students.
