Student Reading Targets

(0)
These reading targets are aligned with PM Benchmark 1-30; grouped into 6 bands (1-4; 5-9; 10-14;15-19; 20-25 and 26-30) . They allow teachers to easily provide feedback and future learning targets to students. These also strongly support Visible Learning approaches to teaching and learning, in particular success criteria (WILF). The reading targets are based on the following reading strategies: Predicting; Self Monitoring; Activating Prior Knowledge; Inferring; Synthesising; Visualising; Summarising and Questioning. These reading targets will assist your students to meet the Australian Curriculum standards. Select and print the level appropriate for each student in the class (allows for differentiation). Set goals or learning targets, with students, based on these reading targets. Indicate in the box (e.g. initial/date) each time you see a target being independently demonstrated.

These writing targets are specifically aligned with Australian Curriculum English Years F-6 , which allows teachers to easily provide feedback and future learning targets to students; however, they could be easily used in any educational setting. These also strongly support Visible Learning approaches to teaching and learning, in particular success criteria (WILF). These writing targets also help unpack the Australian Curriculum for teachers. Print, fold and laminate (two to a page). Select the level appropriate to each student in the class (allows for differentiation) and use it like a bookmark in students' writing book. Set goals or learning targets, with students, based on these text level writing targets. Indicate on the star (e.g. sticker) each time you see a target being independently demonstrated.
