I'm an A-Level physics teacher. In my opinion independent learning is the key to success so I focus a lot of effort into making resources to help students learn physics independently. A lot of what I make is available for free on YouTube. My website has links to everything. I'm starting to offer my free downloads on https://wonkylogic.co/a-level-physics-hq which does not require a log in to download.

Elastic Collisions ➝ What happens next? Worksheet and Slides (Differentiated)

(0)
A differentiated activity worksheet for students and Keynote¹ presentation with answers. Four different elastic collisions are presented and students have to apply conservation of momentum and conservation of kinetic energy to the collision to determine the correct outcome. The problems range in difficulty from straightforward to advanced problem solving. There are two versions of the activity included: Extension version with limited guidance on the task. Accessible version with four possible outcomes shown that students need to evaluate. (Both worksheets are combined into the single pdf document - just print what you need.) This is a paid version of a lite product which includes the same task without the differentiated version. The worksheet should prove self explanatory for students. The presentation is designed to aid the teacher’s explanation. There are slides that can be used to show solutions for both versions of the worksheet giving the teacher the option to choose how to work through the the tasks. The slides linked to the differentiated version include the algebraic working to analyse conservation of momentum and KE - making the teacher’s life even easier! ¹ The presentation is made with Keynote which is Apple’s presentation software. Using Vernier Calipers and Micrometers

(0)
A Keynote¹ and PowerPoint presentation to aid teaching students how to use Vernier Calipers and Micrometers with accompanying printable worksheet. Learning how to use vernier calipers and micrometers is an important part of physics A-Level, and engineering courses. The presentation includes a labelled diagram of a vernier caliper, followed by high quality diagrams of vernier calipers showing different measurements. The diagrams match those on the worksheet so that students can work through each measurement individually on the worksheet in the first instance. The process is repeated with a labelled diagram of a micrometer and diagrams of a micrometer showing different measurements. The worksheet has all diagrams of vernier calipers and micrometers on a single side of A4 paper. ¹ Keynote is presentation software that works on macOS, iOS and iPadOS devices. The worksheet is a PDF. A PowerPoint version is included for users requiring it. There is a free version of this activity available as a presentation only (no worksheet) and fewer measurements (two of each). The measurements shown in the free version are different to this activity so if you want to increase the number of measurements you work through with your students you can copy them across.

A Keynote¹ presentation for introducing students to handling experimental uncertainties in science measurements. Topics covered are: types of error (systematic and random), absolute and percentage uncertainty, and rules for determining uncertainty in calculated values (five calculation rules in total). There is also a sample of exam questions - three for each rule (except rule 1 which has just one exam question). Also included in addition to the above: An explanation of uncertainty in handheld stopwatches. Examples - notably an example question with full worked solution for each calculation rule. There is a lite version of this slideshow available for free so you can get a feel for the resource prior to purchasing this slideshow if you would like to do so. Note that the Lite version does not contain all of the teaching content of this presentation; the rules for multiplication by coefficients and calculation with complex functions (trig and logs) are only available in this version. ¹ Keynote works on iPhones, iPads, Macs and in many web browsers. Check your device against Apple’s latest guidance.
NIST Steam Table Spreadsheet - Thermodynamics

NIST Steam Table Spreadsheet - Thermodynamics

(0)
This spreadsheet looks up steam properties for a specified temperature or pressure. It is based on data from the NIST steam tables. The spreadsheet automatically handles interpolation on the temperature and pressure sorted tables. It also handles double interpolation on the superheated steam tables. In order to use the lookup tables the database first needs to be populated with freely available NIST data - I do not sell that data or claim any copyright on it. The data is included for free in a spreadsheet with the correct layout ¹. Download the data and populate the database tables in this spreadsheet before use. ¹ Filename: Steam table lookup - file 2 - database (free) This is a Numbers (Apple spreadsheet) spreadsheet. It is possible to convert Numbers spreadsheets to Excel files but I cannot guarantee an easy to use output since the tables may be converted to separate worksheets in the Excel file. You can use Numbers spreadsheets on iPhones, iPads, Mac computers and in a web browser.
Assessment Tracker Spreadsheet | Analyse Grades and Track Progress

Assessment Tracker Spreadsheet | Analyse Grades and Track Progress

(0)
A Numbers¹ spreadsheet that provides teachers with an attractive interface to record, analyse and track progress in students’ grades. Capable of tracking results for up to three classes in the same subject (and can be edited to extend for more classes). Per assessment scores can be recorded from two separate sections independently if desired. Grade boundaries are set per assessment in the designated table. Graphs show % scores in 5% range categories and the grade distribution. A bubble graph helps to visualise if top scorers / low scorers had notable strengths or weaknesses in section A or B of the exam. In the main table achieved grades are compared with target grades and class average deviation from targets are also computed. There is also a bubble chart that can cycle through the assessments which makes it easy for the teacher to click through the assessments and see if there are any notable trends - it is also simple to present the chart to a class to discuss exam performance (my students love this). The Tracking Sheet imports results from the individual test Sheets. On this Sheet you can optionally use weighted percentages for the assessments (e.g. give more challenging assessments higher weighting to account for the difference or give more recent assessments higher weightings to emphasise recent progress). Overall performance is illustrated on the Tracking Sheet with target grade comparisons and distribution graphs. ¹ Numbers is spreadsheet software made by Apple, it opens with the Numbers app available for free with most recent iPhone / iPad / Mac devices also available with a free Apple ID for use in most web browsers.
A Level Physics Quiz Generator Spreadsheet by Topic (Excel & Numbers)

A Level Physics Quiz Generator Spreadsheet by Topic (Excel & Numbers)

(0)
I use this generator extensively for continual revision throughout the school year. Each lesson we have a 5-10 minute quiz on past topics to keep them fresh in students’ minds. This is one of Rosenshine’s key principles. Generate a recap / review quiz on a subject in physics with ease. Comes with a database of questions categorised into topic areas (physics subjects), you just select the topic area you want a quiz for and you’ll immediately get a mini quiz of five questions. When the class has finished attempting the questions click once to reveal the solutions. Want to cycle the questions for a new quiz? Check a checkbox and boom you’ve got a new quiz on the same topic area (use the Refresh drop down menu on Excel). This is an entirely offline solution meaning you can use this even when your school’s internet connection drops out. The supplied questions are categorised as literacy or numeracy (where applicable). And those linked skills are displayed to the class to reinforce that the mini quiz includes those skills. The master sheet has a single database of questions to make question maintenance a breeze - one place to input / edit questions. All lookup formulae are dynamic so that you don’t have to worry about which order the questions are in - so feel free to change the order of questions or add/remove questions as you see fit. In the Numbers (Apple) version the master database also harnesses Numbers’ built in categorisation on the subject so you can expand and collapse collections of questions easily - once again maintaining the database is made super easy. The quiz generator is designed to randomly select five questions from the database. But note that for subjects with a small number of questions in the database duplicate questions may occasionally be shown. If you can try to keep numbers of questions above 15 to reduce the likelihood of this. Comes with over 600 questions ready to get you going with a bang! Here’s the subject break down of the questions: UNITS 12 EQUILIBRIUM 21 MOTION 26 FORCE AND MOTION 21 WORK AND ENERGY 14 MATERIALS 25 ELECTRICITY 49 WAVES 18 REFRACTION & TIR 21 WAVE INTERFERENCE 34 QUANTUM 50 GASES AND KINETIC THEORY 35 THERMAL PHYSICS 13 CIRCULAR MOTION 27 SHM 28 GRAVITATIONAL FIELDS 33 ASTROPHYSICS 47 ELECTRIC FIELDS 15 CAPACITANCE 26 MAGNETIC FIELDS 50 PARTICLES 18 RADIOACTIVE DECAY 39 NUCLEAR ENERGY 24 MEDICAL PHYSICS 19 **Now includes an Excel spreadsheet **. For Windows users. Windows users suffer enough with poor OS & software options so I created an Excel version to take the edge off it ; ) Includes a Numbers spreadsheet. Numbers is spreadsheet software made by Apple, it opens with the Numbers app available for free with most recent iPhone / iPad / Mac devices also available with a free Apple ID for use in most web browsers.
