Hello, I am a high school physics teacher since 2013. In this shop, you can find resources for IGCSE, International A level, and IB Physics resources!!
A1.2: Measuring Change: Speed and Velocity (IB DP PHYSISC 2025) is a complete lesson for students taking the IB DP Physics exam after 2025.
This resource includes teaching notes, activities and examples with blank space for students to follow with their notes. Practice questions that can either be used as classwork or homework. A lesson plan. Answers to activities, examples and practice questions.
The worksheet first shows the students the mathematical notation for change and rate of change, giving them a shorthand way to show these. Then it builds on these to introduce and explain the concepts of instantaneous and average speed and velocity .
This should come after an introduction to kinematics distance and displacement. After this students could learn about acceleration as is also a rate of change.
Thank you for downloading this resource. Feedback is always welcome.
Other resources by me:
Basic Math and Units Intro (Free)
Unit Conversion Worksheet (free)
A1.1 Introduction to Kinematics
A complete lesson to introduce IB DP Physics students into kinematics.
This resource includes a lesson plan, worksheet to use during class and practice questions. The worksheet can also be used as a standalone worksheet. At the end of the worksheet you can find practice questions that can be used as homework to assess your students understanding.
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to understand the basic concepts of kinematics, differentiate between position and displacement, and recognize vector quantities in kinematics
Understandings/Skills:
Frames of reference, the concept of position.
the change in position is the displacement
the difference between distance and displacement
Identify a quantity as a scalar or vector.
Draw and label vectors including magnitude, point of application and direction.
This IB DP PHYSICS (2025) Unit Conversion Worksheet includes examples and practice questions for students starting the IB DP Physics course.
Unit conversion is part of every chapter and it can be taught while you are doing other parts of the syllabus, I found out that it us easier if they have some friction with this first and then start the actual material.
You can work out the examples with your students in class or you can give them the solutions for the examples and let them do the practice questions as homework.
Can come after this Basic Math and Units
Practice questions on rounding.
To be used as homework or as an in class resource, after students have learned how to round numbers to correct number of significant figures and decimal places. This assumes that students already know about standard form (scientific notation)
Can be used after this IB Physics Basic Math and Units
Description
Welcome to the Physics IB classroom! This handout was created to be used in the first couple of lessons in the IB DP Physics Classroom. It covers the following:
Standard Form (Scientific Notation)
SI Base and Derived Units
Homogenous Equations
Non-SI Units
Power Prefixes or Metric Multipliers
Order of Magnitude
Significant Figures and Decimal Places
Rounding
These skills will of course be reinforced throughout the IB DP Physics course but I found them to be a good starting point for my classrooms.
The zip includes includes the file without the solutions for the examples in case you want to go over them with your students. It can also work as revision handout at the end of the syllabus.

IAL Physics: Resolving Vectors for Edexcel Pearson Physics but can also be used in any A-Level or IB DP physics course.
This 3-page resource shows students how to quickly resolve a vector into two component vectors at right angles. The resource includes examples that can be either solved in class with the students or the detailed solution can be directly given to students.
This is not a very long resource and it usually takes about half a lesson to do this.

Newton’s Laws of motion for IAL Physics from Edexcel Pearson. Can be used for any A-level or IB DP physics course.
This 6-page resource was originally designed for the students taking their IAL Physics from Edexcel Pearson but it can easily be used for any A-level or IB DP physics course.
The resource presents the 3 laws and gives tips to students on how to identify and use each law while explaining the motion of objects. The answers to the examples are included as a separate file, you can give these directly to students or you can give them the one without the answers and help them through.

IAL Physics: Adding Forces-Edexcel Pearson, Vector Addition, finding the resultant vector for 2 or more vectors, in the same line, perpendicular and non-perpendicular vectors.
Created for the International A Level Physics(2018) from Pearson Edexcel but can be used in any A-Level or IB DP Physics course.
This 7-page resource helps students understand how vector addition works in physics and how to calculate the resultant vector. The handout uses forces but all the methods in the handout can be used for any vector quantities.
The (Answers) file has detailed solutions to the practice questions given in the other file.

Core Practical 1: Determine the acceleration of a freely- falling object.
For Pearson Edexcel, IAL Physics
A 5-page handout that guides students through the experiment and gives them the structure of a lab report.
This handout was originally designed as a companion for students as they perform their first core practical in physics. The students have to determine the acceleration of a freely-falling object.
The handout is structured as a lab report to give the students an idea on how their future lab reports should look like.
In the introduction there is a detailed explanation on how they can take an equation and produce a linear graph from it. Then the student is guided through performing the experiment and then analyzing the data and drawing conclusions from them.

For IAL Edexcel Physics. Can also be used for any A-level and IB diploma Physics.
Notes and solved examples.
This 6 page resource explains to students the information about the motion of an object that can be gained by a displacement-time graph, a velocity-time graph and an acceleration-time graph.
Explains how to calculate the gradient and estimate an area under a graph in detail. It also includes a detailed solved example.
It includes two files, the one whithout the solution to the example is to be used in classroom and help students solve them and the other one contains the solutions with detailed explanations.

Mechanics: Kinematics Equations - SUVAT
for A-Level, IAL and IB DIploma Physics
Includes Notes and Examples.
This 6 pages resource presents the 4 equations used to solve motion problems when the acceleration is constant. It also explains in detail how the equations should be used by providing tips and key words found in questions.
It was designed for the International A-Level Physics specification from Pearson Edexcel in mind but it can be used in any A-Level, IAL or IB Diploma Physics Class.
Give your students the unanswered sheet and walk them through the examples which cover most of the things that they will encounter. This will be a complete lesson. Alternatively you can give them the answered version of the examples which explains the solution in detail.
