Perfect Tense Board Game This ‘Tense Quest’ board game is the perfect activity to review or practice Perfect Tenses. Students will have fun moving around the playing board and answering the question cards by converting sentences into required tenses. Two versions of this game have been included; one where ‘will ‘is used with the subject in the future tense and one where ‘will’ and ‘shall’ have been used in the future tense depending on the subject used (I shall, we shall everyone else will). This is the WILL version. This game acts as a good listening and memory recall activity as well. It requires one of the other game members to read the sentence to the player in order for them to convert it. Students then practice listening for all the information, remembering it and then recalling it once they have converted it. (I do wish to add that the QR code version can be read by the player them self if you so wish, but the version without the QR codes needs to be read by another player as the answer is on the card.) As said above, this game is offered with and without QR codes. QR codes add an extra dimension to the game as it incorporates technology, which students are so familiar with. Students can download a free QR Code Reader onto their phones or hand held devices and then use it to scan the codes to reveal the answers. Only one device is needed per group. The version without accommodates those classes without access to handheld device. This game is also offered in colour and printer –friendly black and white. I printed the ‘Card Back’ (found at the end of the document) onto coloured paper and then pasted to the back of the question cards to make different coloured sets, to avoid my cards from getting mixed up. Look out for my Simple Tense and Continuous Tense versions of this game. They follow the same structure so that the different versions can be added to the existing game as they are covered in class. Vocabulary and Text Development Use “A Week of Wordy Wisdom” to create a ‘focus topic’ daily to help grow your students. The week is made up of: Motivational Monday – Discuss the quote or phrase with students to give them something to think about and apply to their everyday living and how they deal with other people around them. Proverb for Tuesday – Slowly introduce students to proverbs by focusing on regular ones once a week. Word for Wednesday – This might not be a new word for some students but encourage the use and spelling and ability to read the word by the following week. There are six words included, ranging in abilitly from Kindergarten to Fifth grade... The Kindergarten words are Sight words from the Dolch Pre Primer list to offer reinforcement. Think-about-it Thursday – This is a fun fact for students to share with those around them. Funny Friday – End the week with a joke. Be sure to download Week 8 for FREE. This is a set of memory cards to reinforce the Properties of Real Numbers. Students need to match a Set A, B and C card together. It includes the following: Set A: A green card back, with each of the names of the Properties of numbers. Set B: A purple card back and each Property of Numbers rule. Set C: An orange card back and an example of each of the Properties of Numbers. Should you think that matching three cards together is a bit tricky for your students, Set B and C can be joined together as Set B and an extra set of Set A need to be printed. This would mean that the name is matched with a rule OR an example and there would be 16 pairs to match instead of 8 sets of three. Properties of Real Numbers posters is also included in this set. It is aimed at older students (5th - 8th grade) depending on ability and existing vocabulary. Examples of the Synonyms included are: Anger: wrath, fury Angry: infuriated, furious Calm: tranquil, serene Doubtful: dubious, hesitant Empty: vacant, uninhibited Food: cuisine, refreshments Force: compel, oblige Friendly: amiable, congenial Proud: arrogant, haughty The set includes a class activity, pair work and individual work activities. I have created this Fraction game to be rather flexible, depending on the topic which is being taught. Comparing, equivalent, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions can be reinforced using this game. In this set I have included: A set of 24 fraction cards 9 extra cards to ‘spice’ up the game even more 3 Adventure boards (A pirates, space and St Patrick’s Day themed board) 3 fraction card backs which can be photocopied on the back of the fraction cards to keep them with their adventure board theme. These are in black and white as I find it helpful to photocopy them on colored paper so that packs don’t get mixed up – should you want them in color, please let me know and I’ll do it for you. Use these task cards as a practice activity for Negative Numbers. This product focuses on applying the rules for multiplying negative and positive numbers. 32 cards have been included. These cards are offered with or without QR codes, as well as in color and printer friendly, black and white. QR codes offer students the opportunity to assess their own work and work through a problem until they get to the desired answer. Students can download free QR code scanners onto their mobile devices. Should you not have the technology facilities to use the QR code version, the version without QR codes will be just as effective. The Record sheet at the end of the product, provides students with a place to record their answers. Magic Number 48 is a mathematics activity which practices all four of the operation i.e. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division as well as order of calculations. Children need to use only the five given numbers to reach 48. All the numbers need to be used, in any order. They need to add, subtract, multiply or divide in order to reach 48. Brackets may also be used to assist in making the calculations. This set includes 60 task cards to be used in a mathematics centre as well as a work booklet. This work booklet contains the same problems but in a booklet form. You can then choose which method would suit your situation better. The booklet has space for calculations to be made. The two components can even be used together. I have also included a memorandum showing one method of working out each cards. I have compiled this Homophone Bingo game as a reinforcement activity for my class. Students can play in groups up to 8. This pack includes 8 half page Bingo boards and 24 question cards which require students to identify which homophone is being used in the sentence. I have included a black and white set which can be copied onto colored paper as well as a colored set. Students take turns to select a card and read it to the rest of the group. Students search for the word on their Bingo boards and then cover it with a counter. The reader checks that the rest of the group have selected the correct homophone. Students need to acquire four in a row to win the game. Homophone Bingo is a great addition to your literacy centre as a well as an ‘early-finishers’ activity. I created this set of Factors Clip Cards to use as an extra math resource. This resource can be used as an introduction activity, or as a time filler for those who finish early. Children look at the front of the card and clip pegs or paper clips on all the numbers which are factors of the middle number. They then turn the card over and the answers are in color so they can correct themselves. I have used a subtle Spring theme, allowing these cards to be perfect for Spring but also for the rest of the year as well.
