When teaching about the house for beginners in English there are so many ways that it is difficult to know where to start. How about having the context, the vocabulary and the grammar in just one place with explanations, exercises and feedback? This flexible resource will help you teach young adults and adults about rooms in the house and adjectives to describe the rooms. There is also a review about there is/there are and opinions. This resource is aimed at helping teachers to complement their textbook or to give enough material for those who are not lucky enough to have access to ESL textbooks/material. The resource contains a powerpoint with 30 slides with clear explanations at the bottom of each one of them to give you a step-by-step explanation about the progression of the lesson. The exercises are corrected to save you time! The resource also contains an activity booklet for students with 8 pages so that they keep a record of their learning. The approach is communicative to allow students to develop their speaking skills but it also contains reading and writing activities to consolidate their grammatical skills and improve their writing skills. You will find different types of activities to allow a greater differentiation in your class: - Texts with comprehension grid - Ads with True/False activity - Speaking in pairs - Listening/reading to introduce rooms in the house - Matching up between rooms and definitions - Vocabulary activities about places - Where is the cat? game - Speaking in pairs with drawing - Adjectives antonyms matching up - Text with filling gaps - Writing activity - Role play - Decipher the sentence game as plenary - Review of objectives I suggest you use this resource after the ESL Unit 3 lesson 1 to help students structure their knowledge but you can easily use this resource on its own! Teaching grammar and vocabulary to beginners in ESL is not always easy. By the time we complete a Unit, many students will have forgotten important vocabulary and grammar points! So consolidation of the knowledge is absolutely vital! How about having all the grammar and vocabulary in one place with explanations, exercises and feedback? This flexible resource will help you teach young adults and adults about the main grammatical points for beginners. You can select which point you want to consolidate by using the content page or you can follow the lesson about staying in hotels! You could use it as a review, grammatical introduction or even homework to consolidate your students’ knowledge about: Vocabulary: - Places where we live (city, village, suburbs, mountains…) - Description of places (calm, noisy, dirty, clean…) - Types of accommodation (house, flat, farm…) - Rooms (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom…) - Furniture - Household chores Grammar: - There is/there are - This/that/these/those - Prepositions of places Each slide of the 28-slide powerpoint comes with notes to help you guide your students. Each grammar point contains at least 2 different types of exercises to suit your learners’ abilities (filling-gaps, matching-up, choosing the right option, writing activity, answering questions or reordering activity) and allow them to work at their own pace. All the exercises are corrected to save you time. You will also get the handout with 10 pages so that students can keep a written track of their learning. I suggest you use this resource after the ESL Unit 3 lesson 4 to help students structure their knowledge. Have fun teaching grammar and vocabulary! Any Question ?
