Y 5 & 6 KS2 Greek themed Maths Booklet I made this booklet based upon similar Level 4 SATs questions but with an Ancient Greek theme. It is targeted at Years 5 & 6 for practise in the areas below. There are 50 questions altogether in the booklet. Each topic has a learning objective for pupils to match against their targets. The questions are set out in a simple format with spaces for pupils to write answers and show workings and calculations. Greek pictures are included alongside the questions which are practical and fun. Answer sheet provided at the end of the booklet. Pages 1 &2: Proportion and Ratio. 12 questions. Learning objective: I can solve ratio and proportion questions by working out the relationships between numbers. Page 3: Checking the cost (calculations). 3 questions. Learning objective: I can check a calculation. Page 4: Factors and Multiples. 5 questions. Learning objective: I can multiply pairs of factors to make a given number. Page 5: Multiplication and Division. 5 questions. Learning objective: I can use times tables. Page 6: Multiplication and Division. 5 questions. Y 1 and 2 KS1 Rudolph’s Shop Christmas Maths Booklet I made this booklet to help my class practise shopping problems but with a fun Christmas theme. It is targeted at Years 1 & 2 for practise in the areas below. There is a shop front template with priced cakes and bakery items on display. The pupils use the shop to find prices and compare shopping items. There are 12 questions altogether in the booklet. The questions are set out in a simple format with spaces for pupils to write answers and show workings and calculations. Christmas pictures are included alongside the questions which are practical and fun. Answer sheet provided at the end of the booklet. Rudolph’s Learning objectives I can recognise and count coins in £ (pounds) and p (pence). I can create different combinations of coins and make the same amounts. I can solve problems by adding, subtracting and multiplying the values of coins. I can give change. I understand less than and more than when using money.

I have used this with pupils in Years 2-6 to help them retrieve information / develop their knowledge to write about Saint Nicholas in a range of genres (newspaper report, biography, letter or diary writing, fiction, non-fiction etc). I have also used it with a guided reading group and a set of questions linked to the topic followed up with a written comprehension exercise. Useful to link to topics on Christmas, Christianity, World celebrations, Giving and sharing, Being Kind.

30 unusual speaking and listening cards.

Picture cards to stimulate speaking and listening. Set of 30 individual cards with unusual subjects to encourage pupils to talk about the context, descriptions, similar situations, feelings and parallels. The pictures are unusual, amusing and surprising to encourage children to use their imaginations and explore ideas that may be stimulated. Eg Picture 1: A sausage in a banana skin – my class found this picture really interesting and surprising. They asked a lot of questions about how a sausage banana could be grown and what it may taste like. One response was: Are we the same on the inside as we seem on the outside? It stimulated a discussion about inner/outer selves and judging others. Pictures include: Reflections in water, lockers, a giant straw tractor, spaceships, hot air balloons, telephone boxes, animals, viaducts, a tree with a face, a dog reading a newspaper, fairy homes, camouflage etc I have included 11 question prompts to stimulate discussion about initial thoughts, feelings, description, mood photographer intention, likes/dislikes, prediction, message, what can we learn from each picture. Useful to help children of most ages and abilities develop language use and articulation, prediction and inference using a fun visual prompt.

KS1&2 Easter story sequencing activity. A simplified exercise to help pupils understand the order of the Easter Story which can be quite complicated to understand and remember. Learning objective: To sequence pictures and statements and retell the Easter story in correct order. Set of 12 images and descriptions of The Easter Story which can be organised in sequential order onto a storyboard template. There are three templates included which support differentiation and reading levels. Template 1 (Higher ability) is numbered only and pupils order the story into the numbered boxes. Template 2 (Middle ability) is differentiated using key words from the main text in the numbered boxes. Template 3 (Lower Ability) order the story into the numbered boxes with the support of key phrases which they can match to the main text. Pupils can then use their completed templates to read as a group or class or talk to their partners about the Easter Story. Useful with topics: Easter, Jesus and the Disciples, New Life, Spring, Romans.

Wassily Kandinsky complete Art lesson for Primary pupils. Learning objectives • To learn about the work of the artist Wassily Kandinsky. • To look at shapes, colour and lines in Kandinsky’s artwork and talk about what they might represent. • To understand an example of abstract art. • To experience the link between art and sounds when creating my own artwork. • To create my own composition using shape, colour and lines and explain my work to my partner. The lesson includes brief information about Kandinsky’s life and how he painted using examples of his paintings and a simple explanation of abstract art. There are opportunities for pupils to work in paired tasks to discuss abstract composition and emotional interpretation. Art task includes: 12 squared-grid (included) for drawing Kandinsky style concentric circles. Pupils are encouraged to collect recycled plastic lids or bottle tops for a group task to make a large collaborative Kandinsky circle picture. There is a short-paired task to reinforce primary and secondary colour mixing and a Primary colours ‘design’ activity (worksheet). There is also an opportunity for the class to use a range of materials (pastels, chalk, paint, crayon) to create their own abstract piece inspired by music (own or teacher’s choice) with an evaluation sheet for their finished masterpiece! This lesson can be edited and used as suitable for your class and time or space constraints. Can be a stand-alone lesson or linked to topics such as Colour, Famous people/Artists, Abstract Art, Famous paintings, Feelings and Emotions.

Ancient Greek Olympics KS1 and KS2 Assembly. A simply written whole school assembly to cover the main aspects of the Ancient Greek Olympics which can be used in the days preceding the Olympic Games. A link (on last slide) to traditional Greek music played on a lyre can be easily slotted into the assembly if you chose. Power-point of 30 slides which include: Suggested music, video clip and hymns.
