Random Name Generator

Just change the names within the slides of the PowerPoint to those in your class and then click anywhere around the word 'Random' to jump to a students name. The name bounces onto the screen! A great fun way to choose students in your class. As you can see from the previews it is visually appealing too. It comes with clear instructions. This can be updated and used year after year. It is for up to 32 students. You can change the word Random and it won't effect how it works!

Two differentiated worksheets that are fun and creative, and also reinforce symmetry. The worksheet with the title 'Butterfly Art' is more detailed and therefore challenging. The one with no title is simpler. I have had success asking students to draw lightly in pencil, then use pen, then colour.

Learn French Days of the Week

Teach your students the days of the week with the following activities. There are four resources within this presentation! 1. Activity on slide 3. Use as whole class work, where together you go through the days of the week, working on pronunciation. Each time you click the French word will appear next to the English. Initially you can click so they are reading it but then work up to clicking after they have said it. Stretch the more able: Invite students to have a go on their own in front of their peers if they feel confident enough. Alternatively pair a student with good pronunciation to work with a student with weaker pronunciation to work at the computer together. 2. Using slide 4 Matching activity. Print as many times as you wish, laminate, and create sets of cards for matching the English to the French. 3. Slides 5 – 11 This is an alternative activity where you show your students the French and they have to remember the English. At the press of a button the English flies onto the screen. This could also be printed as an alternative display. 4. Slides 13 – 19 A bright and colourful display for your classroom.

Metacognition I'm Thinking

A metacognition worksheet that could be used for numerous projects. I have uploaded it in colour and black and white. I have used this where they read a text and then fill this in. I have also used this where they look at an artwork (I used a Bruegel which depicted a busy social scene) and then filled this in. This worked really well.

What to Include in a Letter to a Greek God or Goddess?

(1)
This is a sheet that I go through with student before they write their letter to a Greek God or Goddess. It clearly lets them know what I would like them to include in their letter and encourages them to develop their writing. After they have written their letter you can use it for teacher assessment or self assessment. It is a word document so editable. I also have a more generic version that could be used with any piece of writing. Just click on my name above to go to my shop and look for 'Assessing Writing'.

In this 10 slide PowerPoint the naughty Easter bunny keeps taking the Easter items! (Eggs, rabbits, baskets etc). Children have to calculate how many items will be left after they are told that naughty Easter bunny is going to take certain number of Easter items away. The Easter bunny bounces onto the slide and the items disappear! Great fun!

Creative Writing - Art & Literacy - Henri Rousseau

Develop descriptive and creative writing by asking your students to look at the detailed work of Henri Rousseau. This resource includes a lesson plan, and within a presentation an introduction to Rousseau's work. The presentation then gives an example of how to fill in the worksheet. The worksheet is a metacognition task which asks students to look at the artwork, write what they can see and then what they are 'thinking', 'wondering' or 'feeling'. A selection of three Rousseau artworks are also within the PowerPoint ready to print off. A great resource to get your students creatively writing. To make it clear, this is not a presentation on Rousseau, I'm just using a PowerPoint to hold the activities. The PowerPoint is 6 slides long. Slide 1: Front Page Slide 2: Introduction to Rousseau with facts. Slide 3: A Rousseau artwork to use with the example worksheet to demonstrate what you would like students to do. Slides 4 - 7 Artworks to print off.
