KS2 printable, differentiated Four in a Row Games for Finding Fractions of Amounts, also known as Fractions of Quantities / of a Set / of a Group / of Whole Numbers etc. Ideal activities for lesson starters and early finishers tasks. Originally made for revision and consolidation in Year 5 and 6 but might suit other years too. Answer keys included. Please check the preview to see if the calculations provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students.
SAVE by purchasing this as part of a Fractions of a Amounts Activities BUNDLE (coming soon), along with my Fractions of Amounts Differentiated Treasure Hunt, which can be purchased separately if required.
You can also purchase it as part of my bigger Fractions Activities BUNDLE, along with Hidden Word Puzzles for a variety of Fractions concepts.
If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE
Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers.
Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. Answer keys can also be printed for student checking.

This Multiplication and Division Pack features:
48 word problem cards (and answer sides)
1-page answer key
1-page recording sheet
3-page recording sheet (with space for working out)
Double-sided worksheet (and answers) with another 8 problems
Concepts:
Multiplication and division by single digits and by multiples of 10 and 100
Includes decimals
Includes fractions
Money problems (in pounds - with alternative dollar versions in another file)
Metric measure
Many multi-step (2 and 3-step) problems
Some addition and subtraction is required too
In the file, the question sides of the cards are on the odd numbered pages and the answer sides on the even numbered pages. You can set your printer to print the answers on the reverse but if you do not have a double-sided printing option, print the odd numbered pages, then put the card or paper back in the printer in the correct order and print the even numbered pages on the other side. You can laminate and have students work individually or in groups, checking the answer on the back once they’ve had a go. Alternatively, make it competitive and have individuals or pairs race to solve them, using a timer. A separate card featuring all answers is included if you prefer not to print the answers on the back of the cards. Recording sheets (2 versions) can be printed too if required.
Use the double-sided worksheet for classwork or homework.

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths dice games for place value up to millions and decimals to 3 places. Includes games for 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions) and 1, 2 and 3 decimal places (tenths, hundredths and thousandths). A fun, more challenging and strategic twist on an old idea, these 19 games will make students think carefully about where to place digits, practise their ordering skills, develop interesting tactics and prolong the uncertainty until the final moments. 24 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
There is a mixture of Make the Biggest Number, Make the Smallest Number and Greater or Less Than games
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty! Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Alternatively:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
Instructions are printed on the boards.

Fun revision activities for converting between different units of measure: 6 Hidden Word / Spot the Mistake Puzzles Worksheets (and solutions) for Upper KS2 Maths / Numeracy (especially Year 5 and 6 - Y5 / Y6) and early KS3 (and equivalents). Conversion of metric units only: millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, millilitres, litres, grams and kilograms. All puzzles are in PDF format. Early finishers love being challenged by them plus they make great collaborative starters too!
Includes a puzzle for each of the list below:
Converting Length (one-star, less challenging version)
Converting Length (two-star, more challenging)
Converting Volume / Capacity
Converting Weight (Mass)
Ordering Measurements
Converting Measurements for Mental Addition and Subtraction calculations
An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no-prep measurement puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher, revision or homework activities. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after converting, ordering, adding or subtracting the measurement. Each puzzle contains a grid. Pupils circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word.
Pupils often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 (KS2) and some early KS3. Hopefully they'll be helpful for your teaching over many years.
I hope your students enjoy using these puzzles. I would be grateful for a review if you get a spare moment.

It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £20, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.

Also includes questions and sentences, linked to sporting activities, opening hours and aspects of daily routine. Support pages and full answer keys included. Great also to link maths measurement learning with French. My French basics resources are made for students beginning French and near beginners in KS2 or early KS3 (Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) and equivalents but they may suit others, depending on experience. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE:
Whether you are focusing on the 12 or 24-hour clock – or both – there’s plenty to choose from here. Just select the resources you want. The 12 hour versions of each resource can be found first. In almost all cases, these are then followed by 24 hour versions (except for the maze). The “12h” or “24h” in the top right corner will help you identify them.
The worksheets and puzzles are at various levels of difficulty, all of them differentiated, to provide plenty of variety and challenge for you to select the most appropriate for the range of ages and abilities that you teach.
SUPPORT PAGES: Word mats to display or print for students who require it, for 12 and 24-hour time, and in black and white too. Please note that these support pages are also contained in my printable games packet for this topic.
WORKSHEETS: 10 worksheets (with answer keys), all in both 12 AND 24-hour versions, and all differentiated at least two ways using a star system. The 1-star version is the least challenging, for lower ability, younger or less experienced students and almost all of these focus on quarter hour intervals. Many of the 2-star worksheets are in five minute intervals. For Worksheet 4, the 1-star version is in five minute intervals and the 2-star is to the nearest minute, to provide variety and extra challenge. The two “À quelle heure…?” worksheets (Les Activités / Le Transport) are differentiated 3 ways.
PUZZLES: There’s an airport puzzle, hidden word puzzle and maze. The airport puzzle is differentiated; the other two are not. The maze also does not have a 24h version.

Fun Upper Primary Maths games and activities for Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 and 6 - or Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland. Factors and Multiples starters, warm ups, early finishers tasks, revision etc. A differentiated set of over 70 cards to be used for self-checking factors work or for fun games, plus 6 game boards and 36 cards for multiples bingo / lotto.
FACTORS:
Lower ability file features numbers up to 100. Higher ability file includes many more challenging numbers, up to 16,000. The cards are designed to be printed double-sided with the answers (all factors of the number) on the back. Once you have printed the front side, pop your paper or card back in the printer and print the answers.
This works especially well as an early finisher activity. Pupil Instruction Card is included for ‘Factors Frenzy’ game, where children compete to find as many factors of a number as they can. It could get quite competitive!
MULTIPLES:
6 bingo boards, each featuring 6 numbers between 2 and 12. Print and laminate these as well as the 36 number cards (which each feature four numbers). When picking up a card, players must decide if the four numbers on their card are ALL multiples of a single number on their board. If so, they can place it over that number. If not, they put it back. There’s tactical thinking in this game as some children will realise that all multiples of i.e. 12 are also multiples of 6, 4, 3, 2 - so they will need to prioritise covering the numbers for which there are fewer cards. A couple of cards will not be able to be placed on anyone’s board as there is no common multiple. As usual, the first to cover all numbers is the winner. A Pupil Instruction Card is included for this game too. It comes in both colour and black and white.
These are available for a saving in a bundle (see below).

A Maths starter game for KS2 Year 5 / Year 6 Division with multiples of 10, 100, 1000 Numeracy. This is a treasure hunt / scavenger hunt activity, an active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary in Year 5 / Year 6 and early KS3. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of decimals calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included, along with solutions.
I have a collection of these Grab the Answers games, each one focusing on a different maths concepts. Click on the BUNDLE to explore more.
Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back.
Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards.

This is a Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 Key Stage 2 (KS2) - Y4 / Y5 / Y6. Maths activity for multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000: an engaging, differentiated set of 20 printable spooky gameboards for starters, early finishers activities, revision etc. It’s an aspect of maths that students often forget but after they’ve played a few games of Crazy Doors, with its attractive board and the scenario of being chased by trolls through a swampy forest, it’ll hopefully stick in their mind! Versions with no backgrounds have been included for eco-printing. Great for Halloween - or at any time of the year (as it doesn’t mention Halloween on it). In Scotland, use for Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7.
SAVE by purchasing this as part of my Halloween Maths BUNDLE, together with a pack of Halloween Hidden Word Maths Puzzles
There’s a multiplication and division by 10, 100 and 1000 version and one for lower ability or younger pupils for multiplying and dividing by just 10 and 100. 10 game boards are included for each (it’s the same layout for each board but with different numbers on the doors).
Each group of 2-6ish players requires a game board, a Doors Targets board (2 included, one for each version), an instruction card (included), dice, counters and mini whiteboards (or paper) and pens. They throw the dice to make a 2-digit starting number and the aim of the game is to change that number by multiplying/dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 to meet the requirements printed on doors in the forest. If they meet the requirements, they may go through the door. They have to throw a counter onto the Doors Target board to find out what they will be multiplying/dividing by - they’ll need to think about the best one to aim at and then also hope their throwing is accurate or they could get held up at a particular door for a while!
This fun activity should also consolidate understanding of place value, including decimals. I’ve added a place value grid for convenience in case any students require this support.
I hope your students enjoy playing this. Thank you for your interest in my resources.

A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 2 (Y2) and Lower KS2 Year 3 or 4 (Y3 / Y4), or for older students requiring consolidation. 2 standard boards (featuring different items and prices from each other)
2 lower ability boards (same as above but less challenging calculations)
Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher

Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £1, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths games for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any box on any row, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
Instructions are printed on the boards.

A fun calendar skills maths activity for lower Key Stage 2 (KS2) (originally designed for Year 3 and 4 - Y3 and Y4) - or Primary 4 and 5 in Scotland-, to provide practice, during the Time focus in maths, of reading or using a calendar. It consolidates understanding of months and gives practice of calculating days and weeks after / before etc, developing students’ general understanding of how calendars work. It could be used with lower ability students in Year 5 and 6 too. Students will practise terminology such as ‘fortnight’, ‘day before yesterday’, ‘a week on Tuesday’ etc and be encouraged to count on and back in sevens for full weeks. If they are to move forwards or back 8/15/20 days etc, they can learn to move to the nearest exact week then move back or forwards a day as appropriate, rather than counting days one at a time. **UK date formats used. **
Please check the preview to assess suitability. The resources are in PDF within a Zip file. The Question Cards are also included in a Word document to be easily editable so that you can amend them if required, perhaps adding in details relevant to the school / country in which you are teaching.
The game board is in 3 sections and is comprised of 3 months of the calendar (May, June and July). Children use the instructions printed on the cards and boards to navigate forwards and backwards in time, until someone reaches the end of July! A rule card is included for the children to refer to. This could be used with groups across the whole class or perhaps just for a group that needs lots of consolidation of calendar work, to add some variety to their learning programme. The boards were designed in A3 and they work really well at this size if being used with a larger group. If you can only print in A4, you might want to scale it up on the copier after printing. However, A4 works fine too. You might need to use the ‘shrink to fit’ setting on your printer if printing in A4.
I hope your students find this an engaging activity. If you can spare a moment I would be so grateful for a review. Many thanks.

Fun Key Stage 1 Maths add and subtract cards, ideal for independent work in Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2). This free sample includes 16 printable write and wipe trail cards for early finishers, lesson starters, warm ups and revision, which will also suit some Year 3 (Y3) and older KS2 students requiring consolidation, including those with ASN / SEN.
Regular practice using these resources will help to build speed and accuracy and they are an engaging change from standard worksheets.
Laminate them for children to complete with dry-wipe pens or use in dry-erase sleeves if you wish to save on laminating.
Alternatively, leave them uncovered and use as worksheets with a difference.
These are great to have to hand throughout the year to use as last-minute meaningful ‘fillers’.
They can even be turned into a competitive game if required, with pupils racing each other to complete.
4 cards have been taken from each of the following 4 full packs:
Adding and subtracting within 20
Adding and subtracting within 50
Adding and subtracting 9, 10 and 11
Adding and subtracting multiples of 10
The full packs from which these cards have been taken each contain 36 cards and answer versions of all cards. All four full sets (144 cards) are available in a great value bundle here:
Addition and Subtraction KS1 Maths Card BUNDLE
Or, if you would like just the first two packs, a smaller bundle is also available:
Addition and Subtractions within 20 and 50 KS1 Cards.
Starting at the top illustration and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total as they go. The final answer is printed at the end of the trail, beside the illustration in the middle of the card, so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check their work to see where they have gone wrong.
