Four in a Row: There are 4 boards: word version and digital ones for both the 12 and 24-hour clocks. Print and laminate the ones you want for repeated use with whiteboard pens. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Dice required.
“J’ai…Qui a…?” Loop Game: A speaking game for groups or the whole class. Print and laminate. The 36 cards form a continuous loop. There are 3 versions – the first has an analogue clock, the second a digital clock, while the third version features French 24-hour time.
Active Oral Game: Ideal for whole class. Print and laminate cards. Students walk around the room, asking and answering what time it is in French, using the time on their cards. The first pair to find the matching cards wins. 2 versions: an analogue clock version for 12-hour time and a digital one you can use for 24-hour time.
Serpents et Echelles Board Game: Print and laminate board. It works like normal Snakes and Ladders, only with students calling out French words when they land on them.
Sentences Board Game: Fun for oral practice. Board 1 is a simpler, 12-hour digital version, just in quarter hour intervals. Board 2 is for analogue 12-hour time in 5 minute intervals and board 3 is for 24-hour time. Print and laminate. Instructions on board.
Square Jigsaw: Laminate and cut the 16 puzzle pieces or have students cut up the black and white version. For an extra challenge, the letters on the outside edge of the puzzle form a related sentence. 2 versions, one for 12-hour time and one for 24-hour time. Students match analogue clocks or digital times with French word version of time.
Counter Throw Time Target Game: Combines maths and French! Students throw a counter onto target each round and add elapsed time to their card in a race to finish a 10-step journey in the shortest time. They must read aloud their new time in French at each stage. Black and white target included.
Full game instructions included & answer keys where relevant.

Decimal Numbers to 1 Decimal Place Numeracy treasure hunt / scavenger hunt activity: an active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary at KS2 (originally designed for Year 5 and 6), especially when focusing on addition and subtraction of decimals or place value to tenths / one decimal place. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of decimals calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability pupils in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included, along with solutions.
**SAVE as part of a BUNDLE:
Decimals Numbers Activities
KS2 Maths Treasure Hunts
Pupils collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back.
Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! A possible answer for each is printed on the solution cards.

Fun Key Stage 2 place value puzzles challenges, great for early finishers activities, starter tasks, revision and homework, originally designed for Year 4, 5 and 6 (Y4, Y5 and Y6) Maths / Numeracy. There are 2 fun crossnumber puzzles for revision of numbers up to 5 digits / ten thousands, 2 puzzles for numbers up to 6 digits / one hundred thousands, and 2 puzzles for numbers up to 7 digits / millions. For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc). These more challenging place value mental maths puzzles use a mixture of words and digits for the given calculations, with pupils entering digits in the grid as before. This PDF file contains the 6 puzzles and full solutions. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7.
These Numeracy puzzles are an engaging alternative to standard worksheets and should help pupils consolidate their understanding of place value in a fun way. This pack also provides good differentiation and revision opportunities and could be used across different age groups / classes.
You can get these puzzles alongside my other Place Value activities and games (large differentiated sets of self-check Place Value trails for 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers and also decimals Place Value games) in this good value bundle: KS2 Place Value Activities Bundle

KS2 area maths bingo / lotto activities for revision of finding area of squares, rectangles and right-angled triangles: 10 game boards and 60 cards are included in this differentiated pack, originally designed for an upper Key Stage 2 class (Year 5 and Year 6 - Y5 / Y6). There are 5 boards and 30 cards in two sets. ALL ANSWERS AND INSTRUCTION PAGE INCLUDED. Each child or pair has a board with 6 area answers on it. The cards feature 2D shapes with lengths and breadths marked on, which the children use to work out the area. Children have a board each or per pair. I recommend having one area shape card turned over at a time and all players working out if it matches the area answer on their board. Could be used as a fun starter, revision, early finisher activity etc. BLACK AND WHITE versions of the cards also included. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7.
Differentiation: The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in centimetres. The two-star version has more challenging calculations and includes some conversion between centimetres and metres.
Calculations can be done mentally or with a little working out on a mini whiteboard or scrap of paper. Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo game, with individuals or pairs working out the area and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it.
If you don’t need to use both versions of the bingo / lotto game at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate.

SPIDER SPIRALS:
Each card contains 14 mental maths calculations - over 500 calculations across the whole set. ALL ANSWERS INCLUDED. They can be used by individuals - or pairs or small groups could race against each other to complete trails accurately. Great for starters, early finishers etc. It promotes speed and accuracy and is a more engaging alternative to worksheets.
Starting at the spider and working their way around in a spiral, children write each answer in the box, creating a running total. The final answer is printed next to the web in the middle of the card so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check to see where they have gone wrong.
Answer cards can be used by the children themselves or by the teacher to see mistakes at a glance. Print and laminate if required.

Key Stage 2 (KS2) place value printable activities for numbers up to 5 digits to develop understanding of place value, while practising mental maths. There are 56 self-checking maths trails (36 more challenging trails and an additional 20 trails for lower ability or less experienced learners) to make into reusable activity boards or simply print as worksheets (versions also included without the final answer). Ideal as main lesson tasks, starters, early finishers, home learning, homework and revision. PDF format. Ideal for Year 4 or Year 5 (Y4 / Y5) - or Primary 5 or 6 in Scotland.
A fun activity that can be used as a competitive game or an individual challenge
Differentiation: In addition to there being 2 different levels here, the last 6 trails in the main set (trails 31-36) are a little less challenging than the first 30 but a little more challenging than the lower ability set
Print as many A4 boards as you require (printing on card recommended), laminate for regular use and have students complete trails with whiteboard pens
Consider printing and/or laminating back-to-back to save resources
A5 worksheet versions of the trails (two trails per A4 page) are included with the answer removed, which you might want to use for classwork or homework without laminating
Separate final answer key versions included (for use with worksheet versions)
Full answer versions also included for speedy checking by student or teacher if required
Alternatively students could use a calculator to help them see where they have gone wrong.
Students love using these trails, fixing any errors for themselves. They could work in pairs or individually and choose whether to time themselves or race against their friends.
How do they work? The trails each feature 12 addition and subtraction calculations (or 8 in the lower ability set) to consolidate place value. A start and end number are printed on each card, so students can work from left to right down the rows, adding and subtracting different size numbers, until they reach the end, where they can check if they arrived at the correct final number.
These trails are available alongside other place value games and activities for large numbers and decimal numbers in a popular bundle:

Money Games (Calculating Change from Ten Pounds): differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for finding change from £10, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. Printable fun for starters, early finishers activities, revision etc.
FOUR IN A ROW
A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 (KS2), Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (Y3 / Y4 / Y5 and Y6), depending on ability. In Scotland, it’s for Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Includes:
2 PDF files
2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other)
2 lower ability boards (same as above but less challenging calculations)
Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher
Teacher notes
Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £10, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

Build number sense with this KS2 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths BUNDLE of fun printable games and puzzles worksheets for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. All in PDF format. Includes:
17 fun, challenging and strategic estimation and rounding games
7 hidden word puzzles
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as fun homework tasks
ROUNDING GAMES:
These dice games make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments!
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups
Instructions are printed on the board
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
ROUNDING HIDDEN WORD PUZZLES:
1 for rounding to the nearest ten
1 for rounding to the nearest hundred
1 for rounding to the nearest thousand
1 for rounding to the nearest whole number
1 for rounding to the nearest one decimal place
1 for rounding to the nearest two decimal places
1 for rounding money to the nearest pound (dollar version also included)
More about hidden word puzzles: Similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.

PUZZLES
An engaging alternative to worksheets, these Numeracy puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities. There’s one on increasing and decreasing temperature (Celsius), one for simple subtraction calculations with mostly negative number answers and a more challenging puzzle featuring addition and subtraction of negative and positive integers. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a maths-related word is revealed after completing calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle boxes containing errors. Then they assemble the letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There’s a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word.

Ideal for differentiation, there are 15 tests at both of the two levels. Each test contains 20 question slides and 20 answer slides. You could use them as part of SATs preparation, as daily / weekly mental starter activities or as part of revision lessons.
**Contains: **
SET A: 15 Tests originally designed for Year 5 and 6
SET B: 15 Tests originally designed for Year 4 (and will suit some Year 3)
You could use a mixture of the two levels for differentiation in the same class. Please check the individual resource descriptions and previews to check if this will meet your needs.
Children enjoy trying to beat their previous best score. These informal tests are split across 6 PowerPoints and are designed to be shown on the whiteboard, with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. In each quiz there’s one question to a slide so children can focus on it for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered to minimise distractions. You can run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer if you wish - alternatively click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging questions. Each test features 20 calculations involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge.
At the end of each test, there follows the same 20 slides repeated, with the answer added clearly. Children can mark their own or a partner’s work to cut down on your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but each answer appearing with its question like this allows for important discussions about strategies.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Negative Numbers, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Decimals, Percentages, Fractions, Money, Measure (including Area and Perimeter, Time, Length), Angles.
Additional dollar versions of all 3 PowerPoints are included, where I have amended any questions involving pounds and pence to suit countries using dollars.

An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no prep puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
Well-differentiated Decimal Place Value Four-in-a-Row Game Boards and Cards: Use for consolidation of decimal place value understanding and ordering decimal numbers (1, 2 and 3 decimal places).
Includes:
• Two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places)
• Two A3 Four in a Row boards. The 1 star version was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. It works especially well in A3, however, you could scale down the board to A4 and use the smaller card set supplied.
You could have pairs take on other pairs. Each team of two starts with a set of cards (print each set on different coloured card if you don’t have coloured printing that would allow you to print the different coloured cards supplied, then laminate to use again and again). It works well if each team shuffles their cards, puts them in a pile and takes one from the top at a time, which they then put down on the board if there’s a suitable empty box. They aim to get four of their cards in a row. Each box has a stipulation about the numbers that can be placed on it (no tenths, < 1.5, > 0.31, < 0.56, five hundredths etc). To save printing you could split a set between 2 or 3 boards as a single team won’t require all 54 cards. The cards can also be used separately from the game boards for ordering activities.
Decimal Numbers to 1 Decimal Place Numeracy Treasure Hunt : An active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary, especially when focusing on addition and subtraction of decimals or place value to tenths / one decimal place. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included, along with solutions.

PUZZLES WORKSHEETS
An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs or groups. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a maths-related word is revealed after completing the work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a fraction / calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing incorrect answers or errors such as non-equivalent fractions (depending on which puzzle it is). Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There’s a further question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word.
Students often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
FOUR IN A ROW
Print and laminate the boards for regular use. It was designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one-star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two-star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three-star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers.
Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). Students write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker.
TREASURE HUNT / ACTIVE CARD GAME
This can be played multiple times as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included.
