BINGO / LOTTO:
Includes simple number match and mental maths versions. 2 sets of 6 boards for each of 0-40 and 0-100 – one set features the French number word, the other less challenging version features digits. Print and laminate as required. Both the 0-40 and 0-100 games also have two sets of bingo cards each – French mental maths versions or French number word versions. Great for differentiation - for a medium level of challenge you could have groups using the digit boards with the mental maths calculation cards.
FOUR IN A ROW:
6 French Maths Four in a Row game boards at 2 levels. Great starter, early finisher or group activities for both French and Maths lessons. Most questions can be answered using mental strategies. All four operations used.
4 different game boards for Maths involving numbers from 0 to 100 and generally more challenging Maths questions.
2 different game boards for Maths involving numbers from 0 to 40 with generally simpler Maths questions.
Full answer versions included for at-a-glance checking by students or teacher. BLACK AND WHITE versions of all boards included too.
Laminate and use again. Students work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row. Roll dice to find which column to choose a calculation from (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in the one they've rolled, skip a go or roll again. Use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record answers or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but it will work fine in A4 too.
For the four operations, I use:
plus - add
moins - minus
fois - times
divisé par - divided by

12 fun festive puzzles worksheets for Key Stage 2 Mental Maths and Literacy / English (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar / SPaG) to use as warm ups, starters, revision, homework or early finisher activities in December. They could also be used as main lesson tasks. With 2 levels of challenge, this BUNDLE provides ideal differentiation in many classes, perfect for meaningful practice at this busy time of year, with no prep required. Some of the puzzles were designed for Year 3 and 4 but these are likely to suit some learners in Year 5 and 6 requiring a simpler level of challenge. On the other hand, the Year 5 / 6 puzzles could provide challenge for more able learners in lower year groups.

Christmas Maths Puzzles
Christmas Literacy (SPaG) Puzzles
CHRISTMAS MATHS PUZZLES:
There are 3 Set A Numeracy puzzles that best suit Year 6 and 5 (P7 and P6) and 3 Set B puzzles originally designed for Year 4 (P5) - and Year 3 (P4) if all concepts have been covered. Both sets could be used in the same class for differentiation if required. Set A might also suit some early KS3 classes. They work well at the busy end of term as little preparation is required and they are very flexible and can be left aside and picked up again as required.
An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities for this special time of year. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a Christmas-related word is revealed after completing mental arithmetic calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Pupils circle any boxes containing mistakes. Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal the Christmas word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Negative Numbers, Fractions, Percentages and Decimals (Not all concepts feature in Set B).
LITERACY (EDITING / PROOFREADING PUZZLES:
KS2 Christmas Editing / Proofreading puzzles. Minimal preparation required (ideal for busy end of term), these 6 fun Literacy / English puzzle worksheets provide practice of a range of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) during late November and December. 3 puzzles were originally designed for Year 6 and 5 (P7 and P6) and 3 simpler ones for Year 3 and 4 (P4 and P5). Both sets could be used in the same class for differentiation if required. They could also be used for revision in early KS3. Versions are included with and without a festive background picture. All sentences are Christmas-themed.
These puzzles work in a similar way to the maths ones above, a Christmas-related word being revealed after completing the editing work. Each puzzle contains 20 lines of text (or 15 in the simpler ones). Pupils circle any mistakes they spot. If there are 3 or more mistakes in a single line, they highlight the corresponding letter in the grid at the bottom of the page. At the end they rearrange the highlighted letters to reveal the Christmas word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups, with pupils supporting each other and pooling their editing / proofreading skills.
Pupils often forget or avoid re-reading their own work to check for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
Some of the aspects of SPaG included: common spelling errors, full stops, capital letters, question marks, commas, colons, speech marks, proper nouns, missing words, repeated words, tenses, subordinate clauses and embedded clauses. (Not all concepts feature in the 3 simpler puzzles (Puzzles 4-6).

Fun fast finisher activities and starter tasks! Designed for Upper KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 and Y6), this is a BUNDLE of printable, well-differentiated Four in a Row Game Boards for starters, warm ups and early finisher activities in Maths / Numeracy lessons. Great for revision or consolidation of new concepts. Includes games for Area, Money, Doubles and Halves, Times Tables and Decimal Numbers (Place Value). In Scotland, suits Second Level Maths - Primary 6 and 7.
Expand your bank of Key Stage 2 games with this great value BUNDLE of easy-to-prepare, fun and strategic 4-in-a-rows. Most just require printing and laminating. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 would be okay too. You might need to quickly adjust printer settings with some of the files. Laminate games to use again and again, with children writing on the boards with a dry-wipe marker / whiteboard pen.
INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer in a box. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The games work especially well if students roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again.
You can find previews and more information about each resource that is included in this bundle if you click on them but here are some details:
CHANGE FOR £20
2 standard game boards and 2 lower ability boards. Children roll dice to find out which column they can do a calculation in and then must work out the change required for £20 for one of the items pictured and priced in that column. Children write on the change using different colour whiteboard pens or add their initials. All answers included.
DOUBLES AND HALVES
10 boards to consolidate doubling and halving of two and three digit numbers. Includes a one-star version of both the doubling and halving game for younger or lower ability pupils - sidebars are included, featuring all answers, which children can strike through when used. It’s also included without the answer sidebars in case your pupils don’t need this added support. This version focuses on lower 2-digit numbers and multiples of 10. Then there’s four different, more challenging versions of both the doubling and halving boards (two and three-star versions). All answers included. Play as the money game above.
AREA
3 differentiated boards: One-star version - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. No conversion required. Two-star version – as above but with more challenging calculations. Some conversion required between centimetres, metres etc. Includes decimal lengths and breadths. Three-star version - area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound shapes. Some conversion required. Includes decimal lengths and breadths and more challenging calculations. Some of the compound shapes require children to work out the length of a side, using other given sides, before they can work out the area. Children will be able to do some of the calculations mentally but could use paper or mini whiteboards to work out the more challenging ones before writing in the answer on the grid.
TIMES TABLES
4 Times Table Boards in colour and black and white versions. All 4 available in LA supported versions (with answer sideboards), standard version (2-9 times tables) and in a version with 11 and 12 times tables added. Use whiteboard pens as in the games above.
DECIMAL PLACE VALUE
Consolidate place value to 2 or 3 decimal places. 2 differentiated boards: The 1 star board was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. For use with this game are two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places).
I hope these resources save you time and help your students learn in a fun way. Thank you so much if you are able to spare the time to review them on TES.

MORE INFORMATION - FOUR IN A ROW:
Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers.
Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). Students write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker.
MORE INFORMATION - TREASURE HUNT:
This can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included.
Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back.
Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins!

UPDATES AND NEW CONTENT!
More content may be added to this Mega Bundle in the future (which you can download for free if you have already purchased it), but as of April 2020, it contains 77 games (about 490 pages).
Each pack in this Mega Bundle has multiple activities in them, to take the stress out of lesson planning and to return to again and again over the years.
Some games contain differentiated versions and you can differentiate many of them further by using the printable word mats and vocabulary lists (included in many of the files) to support students who require this.
Instructions for games are included, usually in the Teacher Notes section at the back of most files but some games have separate printable game cards or have instructions printed directly on them, especially if they are a little more complicated.
Ideal for main lesson tasks, sub lessons, starters, early finishers etc.
Please note that preparation is required for most games. This is mostly laminating (if you wish to use again) and some games require cutting (jigsaw puzzles, card games etc).
If you find yourself short of time and don’t mind skipping the laminating, there are plenty of games here which you can just print and use with no preparation.
Includes the following game types:
Four in a Row
Serpents et Echelles (Snakes and Ladders)
Other board games
Active card games
Bingo / Noughts and Crosses cards
Human bingo
Jigsaw Puzzles
‘I Have…Who Has?’ / Loop games

Great for starters and early finishers, this Mental Maths / Arithmetic Upper Key Stage 2 Big Bundle contains 3 resource packs (Year 5 / 6) and 3 Lower KS2 resource packs (Year 4 / 3), great for differentiation in the same class. A total of 30 PowerPoint Speed Tests, 432 Self-Check Cards and 16 Cross Number Puzzles for regular practice throughout the year. The Lower Key Stage 2 resources were originally designed for Y4 (Primary 5 and other equivalents) but would also suit some Y3 (Primary 4) classes too once the concepts have been covered. They could also be used for lower ability students in Upper KS2. The Upper Key Stage 2 resources were originally designed for Y5 and Y6 (Primary 6 and 7 and other equivalents). They could be used as part of SATs preparation. They would also suit some early KS3 classes for consolidation and revision.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Doubling & Halving, Fractions, Percentages, Decimals, Negative Numbers, Place Value, Money, Measure, Time and Angles.
As the PowerPoints and Self-Check cards include money questions in UK currency, I have also included versions for countries that use dollars and cents.
Differentiation: I have called the Lower KS2 resources Set B, while the Upper is Set A, rather than using any other identifier to help facilitate the use of both sets within the same class without the children being aware of the age level of the questions.
All these Mental Numeracy resources are available individually or in smaller Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 bundles:
Mental Maths Bundle Year 5 Year 6
Mental Maths Bundle Year 4 / Year 3
The information below applies to both the Lower and Upper KS2 resources, so there’s double what it says:
POWERPOINT SPEED TESTS
15 informal tests split across 3 PowerPoints, designed to be shown on the whiteboard with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. One question to a slide will allow children to focus for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered so as to minimise distractions. Run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer or click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging questions. Each test features 20 questions involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge.
At the end of each test, the same 20 slides are repeated, this time with the answer added clearly. Children can then mark their own or a partner’s work to reduce your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but the idea of each answer appearing with its question like this is that it allows for important discussions about strategies.
SELF-CHECK CARDS
A flexible resource that can be incorporated into many mental maths games and activities within the classroom, especially oral starters. Laminate and use again and again as starter and early finisher tasks. There are twelve calculations on each A4 sheet. Leave them as 18 A4 sheets or cut each of the question cards separately to create 216 cards. There are versions both with and without the answers printed below the questions. The with-answers versions could be used by pupils questioning each other while the version without the answers could be used by individuals testing themselves. A separate answer card is included, which individuals could consult.
CROSSNUMBER PUZZLES
A fun resource for early finisher tasks, mental starters, homework etc. They could be completed by individuals or in pairs or small groups, where they will promote important discussions about different mental strategies. As in a crossword puzzle, children will find it easier to work out some of the more challenging questions once they have filled in the easier ones as some digits will already be there for them. ANSWER GRIDS for all 8 puzzles are included within the file and could be printed for pupils to self-check (or displayed later on the board), cutting down on your marking!

An engaging alternative to worksheets, these festive winter puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities for this special time of year.
Pupils often forget or avoid checking their work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Negative Numbers, Fractions, Percentages and Decimals (Not all concepts feature in Set B).

Making 100! This is a fun KS2 mental maths starter activity. It’s a complements to 100 Numeracy treasure hunt / scavenger hunt activity - an active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary, originally designed for Year 4 and 5. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of number bonds to 100 calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability pupils in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions for teacher and students is included, along with solutions.
I have a collection of these Grab the Answers games, each one focusing on a different maths concept. You can explore my growing bundle below.
One possible answer for each of the target challenges is printed on the solution cards.

Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2) add and subtract multiples of 10 / tens numbers activities. These printable mental maths activities, are great for starters, warm ups, early finishers, independent work, home learning etc. Includes 36 self-check write and wipe trail cards to be laminated for pupils to complete with wipeable pens. A preview file is included to show how the write and wipe trail cards work. These cards could also be used in KS2 with learners who require consolidation. In Scotland, use for First Level Maths, Primary 2 and 3.
WRITE AND WIPE CARDS
Each card contains 14 mental maths adding and subtracting calculations - over 500 calculations across the whole set. ALL ANSWERS INCLUDED. They can be used by individuals or you could have pairs or small groups racing against each other to complete trails accurately. It promotes speed and accuracy and is a more engaging alternative to worksheets.
Starting at the dog and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total. The final answer is printed next to the bone in the middle of the card so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check to see where they have gone wrong. Answer cards can be used by the pupils themselves or by the teacher to see at a glance where pupils have gone wrong. Print and laminate if required.
I have other versions of this resource, to practise different aspects of adding and subtracting. They are available with this one in a great value bundle:
Adding and Subtracting within 20 Write and Wipe Cards

Identifying, estimating, and measuring angles activities for Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2): 36 cards for a variety of fun, self-directed practical activities and games to consolidate naming (identifying / classifying) , estimating, measuring and drawing angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex). Originally designed for a mixed ability Y5 (Primary 6 in Scotland) but could be used for Y6 (Primary 7) for revision or differentiation. Answer Card (angle type and measurement) and Pupil Instruction Cards for all activities included. There’s Teaching Notes with further explanations and learning intentions.
To consolidate or review understanding of angle types, Snap can be played, pupils calling ‘Acute!’ or ‘Reflex!’ etc as appropriate instead of ‘Snap!’ Alternatively, print out the Angle Type name cards included in the pack and play a game of Which Angle?. More able learners can combine their estimation of angle size with mental addition in the 2 Estimation Challenges.
Of course they can just be used for practising estimating angle size and then calculating the degrees using a protractor. Also included is an instruction card for angle drawing challenges that don’t involve any cards. Finally, there’s a set of 20 acute, obtuse or right angles for younger or lower ability pupils to do a sorting activity Acute, Obtuse or Right? They’re smaller as they don’t need to be measured. There’s an answer card for this set too so pupils can check angle names.
I hope your class enjoy investigating angles with these resources.
