French Physical Descriptions Describing Myself

If you are teaching Describing People in French (Appearance, Hair, Eyes etc) at KS2 or KS3, this Describing People in French / Les Descriptions Physiques PowerPoint presentation and activities will help you plan lessons, with key teaching points, speaking activities, a quiz and an interactive game. This 97-slide presentation includes vocabulary and phrases for describing hair and eyes (Les Cheveux et Les Yeux), together with body size and details such as freckles and beard and accessories such as a hat, earrings and glasses. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 for initial teaching or revision, but might suit others, depending on experience. Please check the preview to assess suitability. Due to a small number of UK, US and Canadian differences, there are 3 versions of the PowerPoint in the Zip file, along with a PDF version for all 3. SAVE by purchasing this as part of a French Physical Descriptions BUNDLE, which also contains: French Physical Descriptions Worksheets French Physical Descriptions Games You might also be interested in my Character Traits in French BUNDLE Or a Describing People (Physical and Character) BUNDLE, which contains all 7 resource packs on both topics, including one that combines both: (French Physical and Character Descriptions Translation Cards and Comprehension)   THIS PRESENTATION IS ALSO CONTAINED IN: French Presentations MEGA BUNDLE   The Presentation has been included in UK, Canadian and US versions with minor amendments to spelling. The other difference is the use of ‘bruns’ instead of ‘marron’ to describe brown eyes in the Canadian version as this is more common. Most text in the PowerPoints is editable anyway, if you wish to make changes to suit your students. Many slides in the original PowerPoint version feature answers that appear on a click, for students to respond. An additional PDF version is included. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. The final 3 slides of the PowerPoint (an interactive hexagons game) is not compatible with PDF and is omitted from that version. Thank you for your interest.

The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you choose). Student write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. They can either use a different coloured marker to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same colour as their opponent. Answer keys can also be printed for student checking. Conversion of metric units only: millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, millilitres, litres, grams and kilograms. All puzzles are in PDF format. Early finishers love being challenged by them plus they make great collaborative starters too! Includes a puzzle for each of the list below: Converting Length (one-star, less challenging version) Converting Length (two-star, more challenging) Converting Volume / Capacity Converting Weight (Mass) Ordering Measurements Converting Measurements for Mental Addition and Subtraction calculations An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no-prep measurement puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher, revision or homework activities. They can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after converting, ordering, adding or subtracting the measurement. Each puzzle contains a grid. Pupils circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word. Pupils often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 (KS2) and some early KS3. Hopefully they'll be helpful for your teaching over many years. I hope your students enjoy using these puzzles. I would be grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. This is a popular hands-on Year 1 making sentences word ordering resource. It’s a full class set of 30 different reusable simple sentence building activity boards and now also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Y1) (or Primary 2 in Scotland), these sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently. This is a 66 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only. Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and that a sentence must make sense on its own. These sentences contain 6-8 words. A simpler set featuring scrambled 4-5 word sentences is available, as is a muddled up questions version. SAVE by purchasing all 3 Sentence Ordering sets in a bundle. Jumbled Sentences (4-5 words) Jumbled Questions Jumbled Sentences BUNDLE Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing. Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Money Games (Calculating Change from Twenty Pounds) for KS2, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, depending on ability: differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for finding change for £20, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. 2 PDF files. Includes: 2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other) 2 lower ability boards (as above but less challenging calculations) Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £20, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required. LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the 'I spend' part first as they make their 'purchase' with others working out if they have the relevant 'I give you'. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success. French Colours (Les Couleurs)

(0)
KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Language Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc).   My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in: Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6) Secondary (Key Stage 3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8) Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada May suit others, depending on experience   The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Students are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included. The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours. The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles.
