The topic looks at the processes of erosion & weathering, transportation and deposition. Coastal landforms of both erosion and deposition are investigated, along with the mass movement events that occur on soft coastlines. Finally the module looks at how hard and soft engineering methods can be used to protect the coast from flooding and erosion.

This FOUR HOUR resource looks the strategies used to slow global warming. In this lesson, pupils learn how individuals can live more sustainable lives. The lesson highlights man’s parasitic relationship with earth through a video clip and uses cartoon images to discuss environmental issues. Pupils complete a card sort to learn how public transport, recycling, solar panels, insulation and locally grown food can reduce their carbon emissions. They then produce a presentation on the current worldwide strategies, which they can present to the class. The lesson investigates which countries are the least sustainable through an ecological footprint mapping exercise. Pupils assess their own carbon footprint, to see how they could be more sustainable. The final task requires to create an invention that will assist in reduce the amount of energy they use. This is then presented to the class and a vote for the best invention is held.
