It then introduces the writing task, asking students to write about their school in four specific bullet points (subjects and when, opinions on subjects, break time food and drink, and uniform).

A 12-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then introduces the structure of the German school system and there’s a video from YouTube to watch. It then introduces the vocabulary for lots of areas within a school (e.g. canteen, playground, staff room etc.), and invites students to put these words into simple descriptive sentences. There is then a reading activity and a listening activity to practise this vocabulary. It ends with a written exercise asking students to write about the school they go to.

Also included are the markschemes (slightly different depending on if you do it as a speaking or a writing activity) which will enable you to grade students up to grade 9.
There is also a slide to help you mark it so that you can write, e.g. “T4, T9” to feedback on students’ improvement targets.
Students can then work on these in the next lesson by using the PowerPoint presentation for lesson 15, which explains to students what they need to do to improve the work and re-write it.
