A set of the first 11 (of 21) Knowledge Organisers (KOs) for GCSE German, following the OUP textbook for the AQA GCSE German course. Each Knowledge Organiser has the aims, an overview of the key grammar from the textbook, a list of 20 of the most useful words from the topic (also seen in the context of complete sentences), a selection of key verbs in five different tenses, and some “wow” higher level sentences to use. A 19-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then introduces the Knowledge Organiser for this topic (included), and then introduces lots of school subjects in German and introduces the idea of stating opinions (with “Ich liebe”, “Ich mag (nicht)” and “Ich hasse”. There is then a sentence builder with intensifiers and reasons, and a couple of listening exercises to practise this. It then introduces the idea of saying what “he” and “she” like/don’t like and it ends with a writing exercise state opinions and reasons in the first and third person. Please note that there is a reference to a Linguascope worksheet, which I can’t share due to Copyright. This is lesson 26 of many available for Year 7 (Y7) or first year German. Bundles available! A 13-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then introduces the rooms of the house with a cartoon house with special effects and sounds! There are then two listening exercises to practise the vocab, before a quick reminder of compound nouns and plurals. There is then some information on “es gibt” and using the accusative case after it, as well as information on using “kein”. Afterwards there are some translations and it ends with a written activity asking students to put it all together with opinions and reasons. A 19-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then introduces days of the week (via the Very Hungry Caterpillar) and then practises them with a listening exercise. There are then some timetables from other countries and a reading comprehension on the board. It then talks through ordinal numbers (to say "in the first/second/third period), and there’s a multiple choice comprehension quiz (included). It then introduces the basic way of saying the time, with a grid for students to fill in, and some listening practice. It ends with a written exercise asking students to write about 5 items on their timetable. This is lesson 27 of many available for Year 7 (Y7) or first year German. Bundles available! German Torture Tenses Weekly Competition

All students start with “Starting Sheet” and have the homework one week to memorise the full sheet. The sheet has lots of key verbs and three tense sentences for each verb. In the next lesson, all students get Round 1. They have to fill in the gaps. If the student reaches the pass mark, they are on to Round 2 the following week. If not, they complete Round 1 again until they pass. (Homework can be to revise from Starting Sheet every week.) It gets more difficult each week until Round 10, in which they’re filling in the full German and English sentences in different tenses.

It then goes through 16 common German phonic sounds for students to note down on a grid (included). It then asks students to try pronouncing some team members of the 2020 Women’s German National football team. There is also a short poem, and an activity to highlight the phonics covered in the lesson in the numbers up to 12. Also included is a grid for students to fill in at the same time.
