The set features 25 high-frequency German verbs in the present tense. There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats:
= Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new regular German verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful German verb bank.
= Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs
= answer key
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. Some sentences include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, to ensure that students can practise locating the verb or infinitive accurately. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them.
= Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a German infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding German verb conjugation.
= Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the German translation, and the infinitive of the key verb, from a basic English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.

The Recall and Write challenges help students familiarise themselves with, and really embed, the range of vocabulary in the set, and also get used to reading, writing and spelling in French. My students use their recall workbooks quite a few times, simply covering previous answers. This means that prep and paper are kept to a minimum.
There are three written recall challenges in each workbook:
= Written Recall Challenge One students write the English word or phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category
= Written Recall Challenge Two with this challenge, students write the words or phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category
= Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category. This challenges the memory more than when the vocabulary is in the order learners first learn it in, with the additional challenge of moving between the two languages
= Ideas, Notes and Next Steps encourages students to reflect on their progress
= Card template for creative and practical application of language
Laminate the game cards if you can - they are far more learner-friendly, and the additional prep and expense is definitely worth it, as the cards will last in excellent conditional for years.

Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
Perfect for young learners of Spanish and an ideal introduction to the animal kingdom in Spanish. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both***masculine and feminine***, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in Spanish too.
It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with Spanish, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators.
There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games:
Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in Spanish, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in Spanish.
Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall
Deck 3: word-only cards in French, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling.
Deck 4: word-only cards in English, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall
Deck 5: both Spanish & English words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words
The animals featured are:
a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a caterpillar : a chicken : a cow : a dog
a donkey : a duck : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey
a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a pig : a rabbit : a sheep : a spider : a turtle / tortoise

PRIMARY SPANISH ANIMALS KS2 ANIMALS KS3 ANIMALS FLASHCARDS POSTERS
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish.
There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo.
The animals are:
a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse :
a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel
a turtle / tortoise : a wolf
There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years.

PRIMARY SPANISH ANIMALS KS2 SPANISH ANIMALS KS3 SPANISH ANIMALS I HAVE WHO HAS?
Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use.
I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Spanish. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - I point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents too - such as the tilde on the letter ñ, and how important that is in creating the correct sound of the word.
The aim of the game is to create a Spanish sentence chain as quickly as possible, starting with Tengo la primera tarjeta, and ending with the final card, Tengo la última tarjeta. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are beginning to familiarise themselves with the written word, and starting to link spelling with sound.
There are 25 animals featured in the game:
bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle
All the animals may not be in my immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply practicing or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practicing particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too.
There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: I’ve found this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more!
Laminate the cards if you can: they’re far more learner-friendly, and last in excellent condition for years, so you’ll be able to use them over and over again.

EFL ESL ENGLISH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN CHRISMTAS I HAVE WHO HAS? BEGINNER ENGLISH CHRISTMAS I HAVE, WHO HAS?
The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully.
This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for regular use in the run-up to Christmas. I created it for the EFL / ESL classroom, and it works really well for learners across a broad spectrum of ages and stages of learning. It’s great to learn some English Christmas vocabulary, though I don’t expect my language learners to learn all of them, as the goals of the game are about speaking, listening and reading in English, and introducing learners to different Christmas traditions and practices through the images, rather than simply building vocabulary.
There’s definitely a UK-theme with some of the images, such as Christmas cracker and mince pies. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. Learners walk around, talking to each other and working together to create the chain. It’s perfect for pronunciation and reading out loud practice too. I’ve included a***whole-group presentation*** to prepare learners for the words in the game, and I also use it to talk about Christmas traditions we know, in the UK and beyond.
The aim of the game is to create an alphabetical word chain, with a couple of cards slightly out of order to keep learners on their toes! This can either be a ‘human’ chain, though having learners work together to create an alphabetical line on a table, or even on the floor works really well too. There are 32 Christmas cards, so perfect for very large groups. With smaller groups, some players can simply have two cards, or select another card when they have already placed their first card in the chain. The first and last cards have I have the first card and It’s the last card - Happy Christmas written on them. Learners love it when you play too! I use the presentation to work on pronunciation, and to embed vocabulary a little more - it’s great for spelling games and quizzes too. Laminate the cards if you can - they’re far more learner-friendly, and you’ll be able to use them for years to come!

This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully.
These English Christmas Numbers 0-31 task cards are perfect for advanced beginner English learners, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester.
The questions are entirely in English, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of English in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling.
Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context and images, which have a real England/UK Christmas theme, such as Christmas crackers and mince pies, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson.
The English Christmas vocabulary provides a really useful springboard for discussion about Christmas customs and traditions in England and the UK, comparing and contrasting these to other Christmas practices students may know.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files:
48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Laminating is definitely worth the extra expense and prep time, as the cards as far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years.
answer key & answer recording sheet
question card template for students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element in successful language learning, and is a really popular activity too.

ENGLISCH ALS FREMDSPRACHE ENGLISCH ALS ZWEITSPRACHE ESL EFL ENGLISH VERBS 500 high-frequency English verbs reference book, alphabetically German-English for German-speaking learners of English - a great learning support resource for intermediate English moving into advanced English students, as a verb vocabulary audit and refresher. It’s also really useful for advanced beginner English students, providing them with a language road map with learning goals, outlining the verbs they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning. We use this as a year-round reference resource, and my students find it particularly useful for exam revision, whether working in class time or at home.
We use the Notes and Next Steps template to think about progress and vocabulary knowledge. Students find this really useful, and do like to map and track their own progress. It can be helpful in guiding and informing whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really useful learning activity too - students also note down any new English verbs they learn, enabling them to build a really comprehensive verb vocabulary reference resource.
The verbs are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes:
youth, identity & lifestyle : fashion : culture, customs and traditions
relationships and family : technology and social media : sport, health and fitness free time, hobbies and interests : entertainment and leisure : food and drink : local, national & international global areas of interest : transport : holidays, tourism and travel : environment, pollution, recycling and climate : social issues : school, college, current and future study : work experience, skills and personal qualities : employment, ambitions and career plans
The reference book has 22 pages - I’ve found the most learner-friendly format is to photocopy double-sided, with two staples down the left-hand side. I also have two additional formats - a 42-page reference book English-German & German-English (£3.00), and a 22-page reference book, English-German only (£2.99).
Have a browse in my store for more ESL EFL English Language vocabulary reference books, including both materials for German-speaking English learners, and a wide range of other ESL EFL English Language activities, with dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies too.

ENGLISCH ALS FREMDSPRACHE ENGLISCH ALS ZWEITSPRACHE ESL EFL ENGLISH VERBS 500 high-frequency English verbs reference book, alphabetical English-German and German-English for German-speaking learners of English - a great learning support resource for intermediate English moving into advanced English students, as a verb vocabulary audit and refresher.
The verbs are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes:
youth, identity & lifestyle : fashion : culture, customs and traditions
relationships and family : technology and social media : sport, health and fitness
free time, hobbies and interests : entertainment and leisure : food and drink
local, national & international global areas of interest : transport : holidays, tourism and travel : environment, pollution, recycling and climate : social issues
school, college, current and future study : work experience, skills and personal qualities : employment, ambitions and career plans
The reference book has 42 pages - I’ve found the most learner-friendly format is to photocopy double-sided, with two staples down the left-hand side. I also have two additional formats - a 22-page reference book English-German only (£2.99), and a 22-page reference book, German-English only (£2.99).
Have a browse in my store for more ESL EFL English Language vocabulary reference books, including both materials for German-speaking English learners, and a wide range of other ESL EFL English Language activities, with dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies too.
