PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION VOCABULARY CARDS FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS AND WORKBOOK The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. Files are non-editable in a zipped format. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use. The set comprises 198 matching French and English games cards with a vocabulary recall and write workbook, focusing on 99 beginner French words and phrases. The vocabulary topics are: salutations : couleurs (masculin et féminin) : nombres 21-40 : parties du corps (singulier et pluriel) : temps : phrases pour la salle de classe : questions et réponses My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. I’ve found that giving students regular and frequent opportunities to play with the cards, not only when we’re focusing on these particular vocabulary groups, but across the school year, really helps them understand and fully learn the vocabulary. The 18-page workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. Students can use the same workbook several times by covering previous answers. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English vocabulary list. My students learn a lot from applying their French practically and creatively with the game card templates. - The workbook is really versatile and useful for a number of learning contexts, such as exam prep and sub lessons. The written recall challenges are as follows: = Challenge 1: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category = Challenge 2: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category = Challenge 3: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocabulary. FRENCH ER VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE

INTERMEDIATE FRENCH CONDITIONAL TENSE CONJUGATION DRILLS FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH -ER VERBS This kind of grammar activity is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practicing and revising how to conjugate French verbs, and it’s a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are***150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges***, with an answer key booklet. I always give my students an answer key with this kind of workbook, as it facilitates independent learning, and they genuinely enjoy self and peer-assessment. Having an answer key also gives them an additional opportunity to engage with language and grammar. The format is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. They also use this page to note any new verbs they learn, which helps them build up a comprehensive verb vocabulary. It’s also a useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity with my students. answer key Try this free conjugation workbook sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-conjugation-practice-sampler-12233532 Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, with a wide range of French language teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE

BEGINNER FRENCH INTERMEDIATE FRENCH IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with complete answer key. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently use j’étais travailler instead of je travaillais as a translation of I was working, and they look for a direct equivalent of the notion of used to…, before they embed the knowledge that this is implicit in the tense itself. There are specific differences in usage between English and French with this tense, and I do always discuss this with students about this when we’re using the workbooks - I tend to work fairly simultaneously with le passé composé and l’imparfait, because students are better able to understand correct usage when they look at a range of past tense contexts together. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! ALEVEL FRENCH CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency French verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys & verbs lists ideal for***A Level French*** students who are working with more complex language and texts, including a wide range of authentic resources, and developing their knowledge and understanding of tense and mood in French. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language, with the grammar of the language they are learning. Students whose first language is English often look for a direct equivalent of would, similar to when they first meet the conditional tense for example, or they may use***avoir*** instead of être for verbs which require être as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs être and avoir in the conditional tense , as well as the patterns for forming the relevant past participles, in order to ensure that they can form the conditional perfect tense accurately. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their German language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. This set focuses on German dates, days, months and seasons, which is usually described as beginner German vocabulary. The questions however are aimed at advanced beginner German into intermediate German students, as working with more complex language as quickly as possible helps progress students’ learning and gives them in a more realistic experience of the language they are learning. Questions and answers address a range of grammatical concepts, such as articles, cases, word order and adjectival endings. Students may not at this stage have formally engaged with all the language and grammar included in the set, and this makes the activity equally about practicing and consolidating German language skills and actively learning new language and grammar. The questions are entirely in German, including translation questions from both German into English and English into German. It’s important to help students understand as soon as possible that translation does not mean simply exchanging word for word, and that languages work in different ways to express the same meaning. The key to successful translation is to convey the original meaning accurately. Some questions address important dates or figures in German history, such as Tag der Deutschen Einheit and Angela Merkel. The set comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible, as the cards are more learner-friendly, and will remain in excellent condition for years = answer key - providing students with additional opportunity to engage with language, helping them develop more independence in their learning - and a great teacher time-saver too = answer recording sheet - print and photocopy an appropriate number for your class. I tend to use these only for more formal assessment purposes - students generally use their class workbooks to note and work out responses, saving prep time and expense. Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in German, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 30 German Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some German-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures, such as Sankt Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about German Christmas practices and customs. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The vocabulary list features the definite article, though some grids also have the indefinite article / plurals for additional challenge. Grids 1-4 are German-German, where students are prompted with the German words, and look for them in German in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list to complete. Grids 5-8 are English-German, where the prompts are given in English, and students look for the German translation in the grid. They also write the German translation of the English word. Grids 9 and 10 prompt students with a specific Christmas image, and they look for the corresponding German word in the grid, also completing a German vocabulary list for additional consolidation. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches and answer keys are in portrait format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located. There is an alphabetical German-English Christmas vocabulary list which students find really helpful. There are two formats: search grids and answer keys together, so that they can be printed out and copied double-sided, and search grids / answer keys as separate files. The word searches are useful in a range of learning contexts - as starters, refreshers, finishers, fun-time fillers and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season. INTERMEDIATE GERMAN ELEMENTARY GERMAN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER GERMAN TASK CARDS BUNDLE 13 SETS @ $4.00 EACH IN THE BUNDLE Files are non-editable in zipped formats. The bundle is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom, in whole or in part, in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. There are 13 sets of German Task Cards in this bundle. My students absolutely love challenge cards, and find them really useful for helping them get to grips with their German. Task cards are great for independent learning - students can work at their own pace, in pairs or in small groups, and really focus on the target language. The questions and templates focus on multi-skill language learning, not focusing solely on the target vocabulary - they provide students with opportunities to apply prior learning, and to encounter more complex language they may not yet have covered formally in class. There are answer keys and recording sheets for every set, though my students often just use their notebooks for writing their answers. Most sets have a question card template too - this is a really popular activity with my students, and they love to create questions for each other. Additionally, this enables them to apply their developing understanding of German in a very practical and creative way. Several sets also have accompanying vocabulary lists, which are great as a learning support resource, as well as a year-round reference resource. I have a series of challenge cards sets ready to go for my students - they’re a very popular choice for our ’free-choice’ learning time. Click on the links for detailed challenge card sets descriptions: Set 1: German Dates, Days, Months & Seasons Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-dates-days-months-seasons-task-cards-12263785 Set 2: German Numbers 0-31 Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-task-cards-12247769 Set 3: German Christmas Numbers 0-31 Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-christmas-numbers-0-31-task-cards-12264396 Set 4: German Numbers 0-100 Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-100-task-cards-12247767 Set 5: German Fruits Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-fruits-task-cards-12561723 Set 6: German Vegetables Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-vegetables-task-cards-12561733 Set 7: German Fruits & Vegetables Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-fruits-and-vegetables-task-cards-12565466 Set 8: German Telling Time Task Cards : O’clock & Half Past the Hour https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-telling-time-task-cards-1-12715216 Set 9: German Telling Time Task Cards: Quarter to & past the hour https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-telling-time-task-cards-2-12950674 Set 10: German Telling ime Task Cards: Range of Analog Clock Times https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-telling-time-task-cards-2-12924645 Set 11: German Regular Verbs Present Tense Challenge Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-regular-verbs-present-tense-task-cards-12247765 Set 12: German Irregular Verbs Present Tense Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-irregular-verbs-present-tense-task-cards-12247766 Set 13: German Separable Verbs Present Tense Task Cards https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-separable-verbs-present-tense-task-cards-12715211 All files are non-editable in a zipped format and include a range of the following: differentiated question cards, students don’t have to work through all cards at once - they can select cards randomly for short periods of time during lessons, whatever way suits your learning plan best. answer recording sheet - I don’t actually always use these - I let students use their work notebooks for answers simply use their notebooks for answers. In some set, I’ve included a sheet with a background, and one without. Similarly, in some sets I’ve also included a blank sheet, with no numbers, which is useful when students are working ‘randomly’ through the cards at different times. answer key - I find having a key essential for students, as it helps them to work and learn independently, and it also offers extra opportunity to engage with language - I tend to laminate sets of answer keys - one answer key for each small group is enough question cards template for students to apply their knowledge practically, and to create questions for each other - this is a really challenging and popular activity, and I encourage students to include other vocab and verbs they know or learn. Have a browse in my store for German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.
