Using the Pearson curriculum specification (although can easily be adapted to suit other awarding bodies such as NOCN or OCN). Starting the academic year 2023-2024. This is a resource I use with students completing a Functional Skills - English/Literacy course. It is a Speaking and Listening task, where students have to partake in a group discussion lasting 10 minutes. The group discussion is about favourite foods. This resource could be used for SEN students, to support them with the Speaking and listening course criteria.

This is an Initial Assessment that I use with SEN students who require Travel Training sessions. The student fills in the assessment to gauge what the students are/are not confident with in regards to travelling on public transport (buses and the Metro or Tube). This information can then be used to inform Travel Training session content. I usually get the students to redo the assessment later in the year to determine the progress made. Easily adapted from Metro to Tube if needed.

This is a resource I use for students that require Travel Training sessions. In order to develop transferable skills, students are required to plan journeys on public transport. This resource is a scenario where students can plan a trip to their local Starbucks cafe. You just need to add the appropriate info (street names etc.) for your local area! It gives advice to students of things they need to consider when planning their journey. It also encourages budgeting skills.

It gives a brief explanation of what the students will be learning in each unit and what assessments are needed. This is a resource I use with students that require Travel Training sessions. This is a fun activity to do with students as a break from regular Travel Training sessions. Students can complete a photography scavenger hunt, where they have to practice their road safety skills whilst walking around their local area, taking photographs of a variety of things, such as a round-a-bout or zebra crossing. Feel free to delete any options that are not relevant to your local area, or add others in.

This is a journey planner organisational chart which can be used for SEN students who require Travel Training sessions. Entry Level 1 to Level 2 students. It includes what the students need to consider in regards to planning travel on buses, taxis and the Metro (or Tubes/Trams). I use this in my Travel Training sessions, so students can independently plan a journey on public transport, learning valuable transferable skills.

This resource can be used with students that require support around building social skills. This is an activity where students can list 6 conversations starters on the sheet, before writing them onto a cube net and creating a conversation starter dice. You could use it as a social skills activity during Travel Training sessions, where students are encourage to practice good social skills in the local community; or used as evidence towards the Rarpa, PfA - Preparing for Adulthood target of Friends, Relationships & Community Skills.

Includes sections where students can demonstrate the usage and maintenance of operating systems. Perfect for Entry Level 3 and Level 1 students, including SEN students. There is also an 15 slide PowerPoint presentation to go with it, that is a full teaching PowerPoint, with recap of previous lesson, learning outcomes, gauging prior knowledge, teaching slides, keywords, an extension task and a recap of learning.

The task booklet recaps prior learning, includes sections where students can demonstrate the usage of accessibility settings, states keywords, checks learning for self-assessment and includes 2 extension tasks. Perfect for Entry Level 3 and Level 1 students, including SEN students. There is also an 12 slide PowerPoint presentation to go with it, with recap of previous lesson, learning outcomes, gauging prior knowledge, keywords, 2 extension tasks and a recap of learning.

There is also an accompanying witness statement sheet, where tutors or LSA’s can provide written evidence towards the goal.

I use this resource for students that require Travel Training sessions. I use this resource in conjunction with the EHCP Goal Evidence Log sheet, where tutors or learning support assistants can write a witness statement when students have made progress towards their Travel Training related EHCP goal.

This is a display poster which can be shown/displayed to students that require Travel Training sessions. The poster explains the necessity of good road safety skills when crossing the road at a chicane/give way and that cars may not be stopping to let you cross.
