This is a resource I use with students completing a Functional Skills - English/Literacy course. It is a Speaking and Listening task, where students have to roleplay or practice making a phone call. The resource states strategies for making a successful phone call. This resource could be used for SEN students, to support them with the Speaking and listening course criteria.

This is a 2 page resource to support students understanding of sport (football or soccer) vocabulary and its descriptions. Students have to match the football/soccer vocabulary words to its description.

This resource can be used for students studying English Literature. It is a 5 page worksheet, where students are required to read the excerpts of the HG Wells novel, The War of the Worlds and answer questions about the text. It includes questions, such as: How different was man’s idea of Martians compared to how they actually were? How does H.G. Wells describe the breakdown of social order? How would you feel being amongst the crowd?

I use this resource for students studying Game or Media Studies. It can be used as an extension task or for substitute teaching. Students are given a commonly thought statement about video games (violent, only for teenagers and geared towards males) and they are challenged to prove if the statement is true or false by providing any evidence to the contrary. It could also be used as the basis for a debate/discussion for Functional Skills English/Literacy.

This is a resource I use for SEN students who are completing Art sessions. At the beginning of the year, the students state what their Art EHCP goal is and how they will achieve it in sessions. This resource is then used to review progress and achievement half way through the year and again at the end of the year. (See accompanying Art EHCP goal set up sheet.)

This resource is a scenario where students can plan a trip to their local Vue cinema. You just need to add the appropriate info (street names etc.) for your local area! It gives advice to students of things they need to consider when planning their journey. It also encourages budgeting skills.

A game genre mind map to use in Gaming or Media Studies. Students have to name as many game genres as they can, their favourite game genre and to name a game from that genre. I use this resource as a lesson starter when teaching video game genre.
