This resource contains advice for students in terms of how to improve for each issue highlighted. For example: Problem identified: Tense Formation What you can do: Check formation of tense. E.g. in the perfect tense, have you got BOTH an Auxiliary AND a Past Participle? In the future, have you used a form of ‘werden’ and then second verb in the infinitive?

A PowerPoint that explains and breaks down verbs taking prepositions - Da-Komposita and questions using prepositions (Wo-Komposita) Example: Ich freue mich auf das Wochenende. Ich freue mich darauf. Ich freue mich darauf, dich am Montag zu sehen (this type of construction being particularly useful for the speaking/writing components). Translation practice aimed at higher level (A/A*) candidates to consolidate this grammar concept. Final slide contains some prepositional phrases that could be used when writing an essay on Der Vorleser - could be adapted for other set texts.

A worksheet that helps GCSE/IGCSE pupils to revise adjective endings in all cases. There are 74 questions in total, plus answers at the end. There is a quick reminder of the cases and a page per case, so that they can be handed out separately, to target each case, one at a time. To support learners, each page has an overview table of the case’s article (split into indefinite and then definite article) and matching adjective ending. As such, learners are able to practise adjective endings by focussing in turn on each case, and looking at indefinite articles and definite articles separately, to reduce any confusion.

Pets board game with accusative adjective endings

This board game helps students to practise pets in German in the accusative case. The game works as follows: Students throw 3 dice simultaneously (or 1 die could be used three times). First die: student moves to the correct square. Second die: student says the subject pronoun that corresponds to the number, as shown in the box at the bottom of the board (e.g. if they roll a 1, they would say ‘ich habe’, if they roll a 2, ‘du hast’ etc.). Third die: student says the adjective ending, ensuring that they apply the correct ending based on the gender of the pet e.g. Ich habe eine kleine Maus. To help students, each square is colour-coded to match gender i.e. blue - masculine; red - feminine; green - neuter. There are a few squares that mean students have to go back to the start or miss a go. Students could decide in groups what happens if they make an error e.g. Ich habe EINEN klein Katze’, such as missing a go or moving back 3 squares.
