Based on the new specifications of exam boards for German GCSE, I have produced 40 different photo cards, all have 5 questions. The range of questions covers both foundation and higher tiers. The cards cover all 3 themes and all sub-themes. The questions are based on information/ specifications/ sample materials from several exam boards. They can be used over many lessons for practising this part of the exam and/or as part of mock exams.

This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains over 150 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards specifications and example materials. The questions are in themes are also broken down into sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have been classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. These can form the basis of regular classroom practice for the speaking exam and if pupils are confident with these questions, they will also be able to answer many of the questions that will form part of the photo card section of the exam.

Furthermore there is a murder mystery pack based on the perfect tense. The murder mystery set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons, which were rated as 'outstanding'. Each resource set contains Power Points with accompanying worksheets. It introduces, explains and tests understanding of all aspects of the perfect tense in a step-by-step format.

This is a fun quiz all about Christmas, suitable for all pupils. There are 100 questions. It is divided into four sections: 25 multiple-choice questions; 25 true/ false questions; 25 open-ended questions; and 25 Christmas-themed anagrams. The quiz is all on a PowerPoint (44 slides), which is presented in a fun way with lots of pictures. The answers to each section are on the PowerPoint and there is also a worksheet with all of the questions, which can be printed. However, the quiz can easily be completed without the worksheet.

This resource is to actively practise and use the 3 past tenses – imperfect, perfect and pluperfect. It goes through a revision of each tense with exercises to check comprehension for each tense and an accompanying worksheet. Then the main text is introduced which is part of a ‘mysterious story’. This is first as a listening activity with two different exercises to complete and a worksheet. The text is then used as a reading comprehension with a range of questions, grammar and writing activities to complete. The final writing activity involves creative writing, as students need to provide their own ending to the mystery. Answers to activities are on the PowerPoint. This should certainly take two – three lessons.

The resource is easily adaptable if you want to introduce less. There is lots of information about Paris itself and its top tourist attractions, which can be used by students in the task given: to create a brochure or e-brochure about Paris for English speaking tourists. There are also 2 quizzes for students to complete (with accompanying worksheets and answers on the PowerPoint), based on the information they have read on the PowerPoint, and a word search.
