I created this ppt to get my students to practise vocabulary on the topic of holiday. I used it with a Year 11 group, but it can be used with a high ability Year 10 as well.
Remote working is what many of us are doing these days, so I thought I’d prepare a resource on this for my KS5 students.
It mainly explores the advantages through a current video I found.

Looking for different ways to help students, I saw on Twitter the idea of a ladder reflecting elements needed for grades.
It starts with an easy present tense sentence and finishes with a sentence which includes an indirect object pronoun.
It can be used at the start of a lesson, to test how much students know on a particular subject or can be given as homework for students to work independently.
Content is based on Pearson Edexcel’s GCSE theme 1:
Who am I? (pages 1-7) = Relationships; when I was younger; what my friends and family are like; what makes a good friend; interests; socialising with friends and family; role models
Daily life (pages 8-11) = Customs and everyday life; food and drink; shopping; social media and technology (use of, advantages and disadvantages)
Cultural life (pages 12-16) = Celebrations and festivals; reading; music; sport; film and television

This worksheet includes:
10 short paragraphs about why learning another language is important
5 follow-up exercises with instructions in Spanish to test students’ reading skills and one exercise to allow students to write their own opinion about why learning a language is important, using the vocabulary seen.
This worksheet was created for my Year 10 and Year 11 students to practise further their vocabulary on the topic of family, friends and relationships.
It includes a list of useful vocabulary (adjectives and verbs) which they can get to use in translation exercises.
It can give students some ideas of what to write on this particular topic, as well as providing them with a bit more confidence in their writing skills.
Answers to both translation exercises are included.
Short extract of the beginning of Fortunata y Jacinta, by Benito Pérez Galdós,
GCSE exam-style reading comprehension followed by an exercise focused on vocabulary and gap-fill activity about Manila shawls.
All answers provided on the last page.
Topic seen in Viva 3, Module 3.
In this lesson students will recognise key expressions on the topic of daily routine. I used it with a top set Year 10, but it can be used with a Year 11 group too.
Skills practised: reading and writing.
Every task is explained on the slides.
All answers are given for students to self-assess or peer-assess.
This worksheet presents useful vocabulary (nouns and vers) for essay writing. It also brings some ideas of interpretation on themes found in Bodas de sangre.
This resource explores the reasons behind Spain’s Civil War. There’s information on the Second Republic (reforms), violence after the elections in 1936 and Mola’s Golpe de Estado.
Listening, reading and translation skills and some questions for students to reflect on and give their opinion in speaking.
