A murder mystery lesson. This is aimed at getting students to work out facts and use evidence to work out the truth. The lesson was super engaging for both my top and bottom sets. Can be taught two ways either place the information around the rooms and students walk around and try and find it/ or place all the evidence into a pack (brown envelope, can place stickers on the envelope, students loved the little touches made it feel like a real CSI investigation). Students then work as a group trying to find out the story, this allows a competition element. The lesson ends with a write up of an account a writing frame is provided.

This lesson looks at how the crises of the early 20th Century brought war closer to Europe. Students look at the Boer War, Moroccan Crises and the Balkan wars and how the actions of other countries would have affected others.

Students look at beliefs and treatments for diseases in the middle ages, as well as medical practitioners and how they observed medicine. Students complete a main task, recap activities, and an essay question. Lesson includes challenge tasks to stretch and challenge high ability and a writing frame for essay questions.

Students enjoy the range of activities before building up to a question.
