This booklet (including answers) contains GCSE-style (2018 spec) reading, writing, speaking and translation questions for Key Stage 3 students on the topic of technology in everyday life.
There are 6 activities: a reading task, translation (short paragraph) from French into English, sentences to translate from English into French, a writing task (short passage similar to the foundation writing exam), a photo (like in the foundation writing exam) and a role-play.
This is a free sample of a larger activity booklet that is available here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/key-stage-3-french-technology-and-free-time-activity-booklet-11933283
A quick starter with Paris monuments on slide 1. Students can work in small groups to identify the monuments. Ideal if you are taking a trip to Paris!
Good for cultural awareness.
A free sample of my WJEC German GCSE role-play workbook, which has been adapted from my AQA role-play workbook (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-german-gcse-speaking-workbook-role-plays-11739742)
There is a foundation and a higher role-play, with a student’s card, a teacher’s card and possible answers set out as a script for both role-plays.
Students give the possible question to get a nought or a cross on the corresponding square. For example: for Emmanuel Macron, students ask “who is the president of France?”
Great first lesson or end of term activity, good for cultural awareness.
A simple (starter/plenary) activity for teaching or revising German numbers 1-10. For printing and giving out as a worksheet. Children can either write the numbers in German underneath the digits on slide 1, or they can cut out the words on slide 2 and stick them underneath the digits on slide 1. Smaller children will enjoy colouring in the numbers.
Can be easily adapted for any language.
Also available in pdf format, if this is easier to print off.
A quick and simple French game for Easter. Roll a die and draw the corresponding part of the Easter bunny! I made it for some primary school children I tutor, but I think lots of secondary students would enjoy it as well.
Could be easily adapted for different languages.
A worksheet to accompany a video about a prison in Papua New Guinea from Brut (https://www.facebook.com/brutofficiel/videos/2141906046069358/)
The worksheet is the outline of a résumé activity, similar to those in the A Level exam.
A list of questions to help students practise German word order, particularly subordinate clauses. Can be cut up and students pick one at a time, answering as they go along (orally) - could even be used with a board game such as snakes and ladders. They could be transferred to a powerpoint and turned into a starter activity. Or they could be done to check learning after a lesson on word order.
A powerpoint, some extra ideas, a bibliography, and differentiated reading activities on the theme of stretching and challenging the most able students in MFL.
An example of a grade 4-5 (old GCSE grade C-D) piece of writing about 'myself' in French. Students read the text and rewrite it, improving it to a grade 6-7 piece of writing using the hints and tips. Differentiated by outcome. Suitable for higher ability KS3 students.
A crossword to learn/ revise general vocabulary - taken from the AQA New Specification Vocal list.
This is a sample crossword. A full booklet of all general vocab is available to buy.
3 crosswords to practise the vocabulary from the theme of 'Identity and Culture' - Me, my family and friends.
Full booklet of crosswords for the whole theme of Identity and Culture is also available.
Great starter or revision activity.
A free sample of my GCSE speaking workbooks.
Using the specification papers, I have created role-plays for the theme of Me, my family and friends, for foundation and higher tiers. For each tier, there is a student card, a teacher's card and possible answers (a 'script' of the role-play in full).
