The assessments are designed to be completed during a 60 minutes lesson (the Listening is 20 minutes and the Reading is 30 minutes).
The assessments are designed for mixed ability classes and include a variety of Foundation, overlap and Higher questions. They include a range of exam-style questions .
The font size used on the question papers is 14, which should be big enough for you to print as an A5 booklet, should you wish to save on paper.
Listening assessment:
The question paper is 6 pages long (including the cover page with instructions). There are two sections: Listening comprehension and dictation- the total mark is 30.
The audio file includes all the questions with built-in pauses. The duration of the audio file is 15 minutes and does not include the reading time at the start and the end of the assessment. The transcript and mark schemes are provided.
Note:
To make the paper more proportionate, there are only 3 sentences in the dictation, including 1 word outside of the prescribed list.
The comprehension section includes 4 words which are not on the prescribed list (mignonne, généreuse, sévère and humour). However, these words will not prevent students from answering correctly.
