This double lesson introduces learners to the three methods of building public relations. We start by looking at some real examples of product placement such as Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the Power Rangers movie, we then look at the pros and cons of this method of PR. We then watch some TV adverts with celebrities endorsing products before going onto the pros and cons of this method of PR. Finally, we look at press and media releases such as Apple’s annual iPhone event in September, although emphasis on how these methods can apply to a small business context for R067. Some consolidation questions before ending with a research task, debate and box plenary.

Learners are introduced to influences on job design such as rotation and enrichment before going onto organisational design. We look at different organisational structures including structures based on product, function, region, matrix, centalised and decentralised. We also look at the human resource flow, focusing on each aspect of the recruitment process.

We introduce learners to labour productivity, turnover, unit labour costs, employee costs as a percentage of revenue. We start with looking at the formulas for each one, with broken down examples to illustrate the concepts.
We look at a concise case study with some information on employees and productivity, using this students complete a calculation question along with group presentations on a 24 mark essay based question on labour rentention. After presentations, students can complete the 24 marker, or it could be completed for homework, structure and indicative points are provided to help with peer assesmeents.
This is followed by another case study on a construction company, who do things differently, students explore, how they keep their productivity levels up, responses to this could be done in groups and fed back to the class, we finish with a box plenary.

This double lesson introduces learners to the world of globalisation. We start by looking at what globalisation is, with examples of the UKs trade with other countries. We look at causes of globalisation such as containerisation and others. Students research the impacts of globalisation on countries, governments, consumers, producers and the environment before filling in any gaps in knowlege on the following slides. We also look at some video case studies of Nike and Apple to better understand the pros and cons of globaslisation. A box plenary to finish with.

This double lesson introduces learners to motivation, we look at both the four theories and the variety of ways to motivate in practice. We start with looking at the four theorists, step by step with discussion, a short case study to apply the knowledge with answers on the powerpoint.
We then go onto look at financial and non financial methods of motivation before looking at a case study of a company that has been voted as one of the best places to work - we investigate what makes it such a good place to work, a 12 mark question based on this with structure guidance and a model answer provided.

This set of resources includes 2x PPT, 2x word files and can be delivered over 2-3 lessons. We start by looking at various leaders to find out what actually makes a good leader. We look at 3 fictional characters with different styes as well as 3 fictional businesses, students try to justify which leader is suited for each business, we then go on to look at the four styles with examples before reading a case study on a business that has been transformed through leadership - a 12 mark question with structure guidance and concise model answer provided for students to peer assess with.
In the second lesson, we look at a scenario of autocratic leadership, students discuss for and against this style by applying it to the scenario. We then go on to an engaging group activity with different difficult scenarios students find themselves in, and as leaders they have a range of actions they can take to fix the difficult situations. A case study on the legendary investor Warren Buffet with a 4 mark question and model answer.

This double lesson introduces learners to marketing in a global context, building on the knowledge from theme 1. We start by looking at three main types of marketing strategies then go on to look at’Glocalisation’, and the best example of this which is Mcdonald’s. A short engaging video on how Mcdonald’s has tailored their foods to countries around the world, followed by a concise case study on the same topic for consolidation.
A few activities followed by another concise case study on Mattel and how they launched Barbie in China, but ultimately failed, due to an incorrect marketing strategy. Students attempt a 10 mark exam style question on this, with structure guidance and a model answer provided which can be used for peer asssessment. Finally we look at the Ansoff’s matrix to help decide when risk is involved.

The second part to economic influences introduces learners to the stages in the business cycle and how each affects businesses and consumers, we also look at different types of tax and their implcications. This lesson introduces learners to the extent of which MNCs actions can be controlled. We start with the some examples of significant actions by MNCs which would require intervention. We then look at reasons for how they can and cannot be controlled. A concise case study and video on the BP oil spill, students attempt a 12 mark question, structure guidance is given and a concise model answer to help students with developing contextual skills. This lesson introduces learners to what a stakeholder is, we discuss examples of stakeholders, students consider the stakehodlers of their school, we then go on to look at the different interests of the stakeholders. Some consolidation activties such as matching stakeholders to definitions or a more challenging version included.
Students consider the most important and least important interest for each stakeholder before going on to complete a 6 mark analyse question on Apple. A model answer is given with context highlighted in red - to help students build this important skill. Finally we look at conflicting interests of stakeholders with examples.

We start by recapping indirect taxes and subsidies before looking at examples of minimum and maximum prices - students contextualise this by looking at alcohol minimum prices and tuition fee caps in the UK - a short question with a model answer on this too. We start by discussing what money is and the role of money before looking at what a financial market is, with examples of the role they play.
