Students will review and practice the short multiplication formulas with this engaging circus animals themed activity. On each page/slide students use the indicated short multiplication formula to simplify six expressions (page/slide 1 problems use the square of a sum formula, page/slide 2 problems use the square of a difference formula, page/slide 3 - product of the sum and difference of two terms, page/slide 4 - cube of a sum, page/slide 5 - cube of a difference, page/slide 6 - sum of cubes and page/slide 7 - difference of cubes formula). This activity practices finding 16 derivatives using the chain rule. Composite functions include polynomials, rational fractions, radicals, trig and inverse trig expressions, exponential expressions and natural logarithmic functions. Students have to solve 8 complicated problems - examples of 8 functions where each function is expressed as the sum of two composite functions. Students will need to use linear combination rule to find the derivatives of these 8 functions. Thus, they will solve coupled problems consisting of two sub – problems (practice 2 in 1) in three steps. This can be used as a class practice/independent practice in 2 steps or as a partner activity (Partner A will find the derivative of one addend of the function while Partner B computes the derivative of the other addend, then partners will sum their derivatives to find the answer of the problem). These worksheets can be also used for enrichment or homework. Typed solutions to problems are provided.

These are 12 Thanksgiving task cards for partners – a total of 48 problems in which students will practice solving exponential and logarithmic equations. There are one exponential (equation A) and one logarithmic equation(equation B) on each card. The equations involve a parameter. Students are asked to solve each of the equations A and B for two given different values of the parameter. Thus, students have four problems per card – problems Aa, Ab, Ba and Bb. Students can work in pairs (partner activity) or in groups of three and four (group activity). The equations require the use of logarithms and exponentials as inverses. Exponential equations include problems that can be solved using a common base along with problems that require logarithms (a^x=b and a^(cx +d) = b, where a=b or/and a≠b). Common base problems require combining exponents using laws of exponents. Logarithmic equations include basic logarithmic equations ( log (base a) x = b and log (base a) (cx+d)=b ) and some problems in which students must apply the properties of logarithms (adding and subtracting logarithms). The cards can be used individually as well. The teacher or student can choose which problems to be solved – like problems 1Aa, 2Ba, 3Ab, 4Bb, etc. Student recording sheets and full solutions (handwritten clearly) are included.

These are two different, but similar forms of independent practice on solving systems of nonlinear equations. Each form contains three systems of quadratic and linear equations ( having respectively two solutions, only one solution and no real solutions) three systems of two quadratic functions ( having two solutions, only one solution and no real solutions) I have created worksheets for students to solve the systems only algebraically and worksheets to solve the same problems only graphically. Each problem has enough space for students to show work. Students are provided with coordinates grids where each axis is labeled using an appropriate scale as dictated by the problem so sketching to become easier. The systems can be solved both algebraically and graphically as well. It is depending on what the teacher decides. This product can be used as in-class practice, an independent practice, partner activity or group activity (groups of two). It can be also used as an assessment or homework. This is a engaging practice on solving problems on parallel lines cut by a transversal. There are 9 slides of problems with given diagrams as there are three problems per slide. The first nine problems (1-9) are two parallel lines given cut by a transversal. Students have to make an equation and solve it for the variable x and find the measures of angles alpha and vita. The next six problems (10-15) are finding the measures of two pairs of four congruent angles given a relation (an equality) between the angles. The problems from 16 to 21 are two parallel lines given cut by two transversal as they form a triangle. Students have to find the variable x and the angles of the triangle formed. Problems from 22 to 24 are parallel lines cut by two transversals as they form a quadrilateral. Students have to find measures of angles x,y and z. And the last three problems (25-27) are parallel lines cut by two transversals as one of the lines is a bisector. Students have to find the measure of angle alpha. This is an engaging and collaborative partner activity for sketching graphs of polynomials. There are eight sections as in each section the problems of the partners are similar (problem A1 is similar to problem B1, problem A2 is similar to problem B2, etc). Partners are asked to sketch the graph of each polynomial function given and compare the graphs of each pair corresponding polynomials. They will find out that the shapes of the graphs A1 and B1 are similar, so are the shapes of the graphs A2 and B2 and so on. Partners can be given directions also to factor and compare the factored forms of each two corresponding polynomials and make conclusions. Thus they will verify that the sign of the leading coefficient, the number and multiplicity of the zeros of polynomials are determining for the shape of their graphs. There are provided coordinates grids where each axis are labeled using an appropriate scale as dictated by the problem so the sketching to become easier.

Functions include polynomials, radicals, trig and inverse trig functions, exponential functions and natural logarithms. Activity Directions: Students have to compute 12 derivatives. It contains problems on indefinite integrals of product and ratio of sine and cosine involving powers of sine and cosine. In general, the integrals are of (sin(x))^n(cos(x))^m, where m and n are integers. Students will need to use trigonometric identities (Pythagorean, Power Reduction Identities, Double-Angle Identities), integration by u-substitution, integration by parts along with algebra skills to manipulate the integrands.
