Just Mercy Movie Guide | Questions | Worksheet (PG13 - 2019) explores Bryan Stevenson’s incredible resolve and passion for justice. Challenge students to dig into Walter McMillan’s trial and the evidence Bryan discovered that led to his release. Write persuasive essays for, or against, the death penalty using context from the movie. Find hope in unexpected characters like Chapman and the sympathetic prison guard. Finally, ask students to do their own research into cases the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) has had in campaigning against life-without-parole sentencing for minors.
This movie is based on the true story by Bryan Stevenson in his 2014 book titled Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption.
This resource consists of 13 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

Edward Scissorhands Movie Guide | Questions | Worksheet | Google (PG13 - 1990) challenges students to explore the strange, whimsical, gentle life of a legendary Tim Burton character. Analyze Edward’s impact on the neighborhood and why they eventually turn on him. Discuss the pros and cons of being special/famous and fitting in with the crowd and how Edward’s life might have changed if he got prosthetics. Identify how the director develops Edward’s character despite his lack of dialogue throughout the film. Finally, distinguish the difference between the concepts of possession and love as depicted by Jim’s behavior. (Kim’s boyfriend)
