It covers everything from anger, warning signs, triggers, engine speed, red and green choices, helping hands vs hurting hands, emotional regulation strategies and much more! Anger management is not just about counting to ten or deep breathing (although they are great strategies!). When we teach mindfulness to children, we are equipping them with the tools to help manage stress and approach life’s challenges. Mindfulness can help to shape key critical skills that are developed in early childhood. This workbook has been developed to support you to express yourself openly, identify a range of feeling states and enhance your ability to emotionally regulate. It can be really hard to talk about emotions and even harder to manage some of the most difficult and overwhelming ones. This workbook can help you to learn about healthy, constructive ways to express and cope with strong emotions. This workbook is reflective and encourages you to think about your own feelings, behaviours and actions. This workbook should be used as a supplement to discussions about emotional regulation with someone you trust. Remember…it is the Teacher or Therapists use of self that is the engagement tool. Teenagers and young people are faced with many influences when it comes to alcohol, drugs and peer pressure. Effective drug education can play an important counterbalancing role in shaping a normative culture of safety, moderation and informed decision making. This workbook specifically designed for teenagers and adolescents and has been developed utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles. This workbook primarily focuses on emotions, behaviours, anger management and self-care. Students with anger management difficulties often represent a significant number of referrals for school counselors. They are often referred because they are internalising their anger (depressed, socially withdrawn) or the majority are externalising their anger by demonstrating behavioural concerns. Whether students internalise or externalise anger, supporting them to learn healthy ways to express and cope with their strong emotions. This workbook provides practical strategies to help them recognise the signs of anger and develop better ways to cope and express their anger.
