An easily adaptable booklet made for pupils taking the Edexcel Spanish IGCSE 9-1 exam to prepare for their oral exam conversation: tasks B and C conversations.
Each topic has around 8 questions with a differentiated section (in red) where students are encouraged to think more critically and use more advanced tenses / structures. There is a question in preterite and future in each topic, too, to check the boxes with the 3 basic tenses.
At the end of each topic students get suggestions of extra tenses (in blue) that they can use to hit the top band marks.
You can quickly and easily adapt the questions to your students. This resource should provide them with examples of what they will be asked in this part of the oral exam and to prepare for it by planning answers to all of them.
A translation maze inspired on the language from pages 86 and 87 on the Viva 1 textbook, topic ‘como es tu casa o piso?’ (module 4.4).
All instructions are on the resource, and should be displayed and explained to students before starting to play.
Aim: to find your way out of the maze by shading a path of correct answers. You get out when your path connects the entrance with the exit boxes.
If you don’t know this activity it has, in essence, the same principle as a bingo. It takes quite some time to run, as there are 18 different questions/rounds and children get very excited by shading the boxes and counting how many left they need to shade before they get out of the maze!
The teacher should then check the answers (all included) of any child claiming to have got out of the maze: note they should be perfect or close to perfect translations to be able to call a winner. If you were to get through the 18 rounds and no one has managed to get out of the maze (unlikely), go back to question 1 and get them to translate the opposite sentence until someone can win.
This activity tends to work wonders with any age group and is a nice alternative to bingo. It’s also easily editable - you might find the sentences I’ve used are too challenging for your class.

A complete lesson based on the Mira 3 textbook, unit 2.1 “Un dia en el insti”, containing a range of different activities to do with your class (30 slides), not only following the textbook, but offering a range of complimentary activities and extra vocabulary to stretch the most able. 4 vocab tests included
competition reading activity called question trails to make reading more fun. This question trails exercise is based on Mira 3 textbook page 50 exercise 1, text called “El lugar de los amigos”.
Activity took 2 hours to create but it was well worth it - students worked in pairs and had fun trying to complete the activity first. Rewards can be given for extra motivation. As students will have to read the text carefully, the whole activity will easily take at least 30 minutes to carry out.

These 2 powerpoints are aimed at introducing the greetings in both German and Spanish. I've designed them for KS2 pupils, but they can be used with KS3 pupils as well. Both lessons are quite similar, so activities contained here can be adapted into any language.

Series of lessons on the weather and a follow up lesson on clothes in Spanish. I devised them to teach KS2 but can also be used for KS3. Includes a variety of activities.
These are 3 different activities I created to get my A-level students to speak about stereotypes in the Hispanic world.
Activity 1 consists of 12 cards (you need to cut them out yourself) with a different Spanish stereotype each. Students will take one each at a time, having to explain the stereotype in more detail if they have heard from it before, and then say whether they agree with it or not, and why.
Activity 2 consists of a PDF document that looks like a comic, created with countryballs (to make it more fun and attractive). It includes more stereotypes of different Spanish-speaking countries. Each slide is created to trigger a discussion regarding the preconceptions of each country mentioned.
Activity 3 is a powerpoint presentation with a very wide range of different South American stereotypes, raised by North American people. Each slide displays a different stereotype, for students to look at and discuss in pairs.

A lesson on Unit 9 “nuestro planeta” from the Mira GCSE rojo which can basically be used with any textbook to cover the topic of environment and environmental problems.
