This is a list of statements on the topic of Law and Order. Cut them individually and place in an envelope. Students take it in turns to argue for or against the statement.
It is one of my many carousel activities during revision time.
Here is a plan that I gave my students to write an essay on Adela. This is a model question for the new A Levels and I am teaching " La Casa de Bernarda Alba" in the first year. You can use it to help weak students, for peer writing, to write your own essay, etc.
I hope it is useful.
Please browse through my resources in TES for speaking cards and revision notes for the new A Level. I am sure you will find something useful for you and for your students.
A (rather rudimentary!) template, to upload in TEAMs or similar, for students to identify their initial thematic choices. This could then be used:
to discuss their choices as a class/individually
to ensure that their choices do not overlap, once they refine them.
to guide them with the next step
This is another instalment of revision notes in preparation for the new A Level exams. They can be used to revise vocabulary in context, refresh ideas about the topic, to prepare speaking cards, to read before embarking on an exercise, etc.
Kindly respect copyright and do not distribute freely. Your feedback is welcome.
I hope you find my collection of resources useful, particularly the speaking cards.
I welcome any comments here or to:bgp@stbrn.ac.uk
Hapy teaching and learning!
Here is the fifth instalment of revision notes for you and for your students! They are quite comprehensive but I enclose the word version if you want to cut/adapt, etc. These notes can be used to prepare speaking cards (plenty of information on cultural aspects plus opinions on such topics as bullfighting and the regional languages), for revision before mocks, for end of unit revision, etc.
I hope you find them useful and your students too.
Please visit my shop to buy more revision notes and the infamous speaking cards (they are selling like hot cakes!). The prices of my resources are deliberately low so that they don't dig a hole in your pocket!
Thanks for supporting my work. Any comments are welcome to this site or to:bgp@stbrn.ac.uk.
Happy teaching and learning. Blanca
This is the last set of revision notes for the new A Level. It is meant to be a resumé as you can imagine, since the "patrimonio" is such a vast topic. However, I hope that it give grounds for the students to prepare speaking cards, to revise vocabulary and provide some ideas for the individual research project.
I will also be publishing revision notes for the second year of the A Level, so please visit my shop again. And if you have missed it, I have an invaluable collection of speaking cards mirrowing the exam. These are also available in TES as cheap as £2 per unit or purchased for the year at £10.
If you enjoy my resources, please encourage your colleagues to support me. Many thanks for all your comments. Happy teaching and learning. Blanca.
This is the third booklet of its kind that I have produced for the preparation of the AQA A Level Spanish course.
The booklet consists of 8 stimulus cards to be used in class or to take home for preparation (with references to further reading), 8 situations for improvisation and a collection of general questions. The general questions marked as (*) require the student to have a cultural knowledge.
I hope your students find the resource useful and it cuts down your work! I have priced it at £2 to make it as accessible as possible whilst gaining some financial recognition for my work.
You will find more resources for Units 1, 3 and 4 in this site.
I welcome all comments at this site or via email to:bgp@stbrn.ac.uk.
This is the forth installment of cards, general questions and improvised situations that I have created (others also available in this site). Some of the context of the cards are: singers who sing using swear words, beauty pageants in Mexico, models who break mold, footballers who appear in ads, etc.
The improvised situations practise expressing the opposite opinion and reasoning it.
I enclose a brief preview to give you an idea of the material.
If you found the resource useful (or not), I would be most grateful for a comment.
Again, I hope that £2 is a reasonable price for everybody: it cuts your work and it rewards mine.
I will be producing cards for Unit 5 shortly, so watch this space.
Any comments here or at bgp@stbrn.ac.uk gratefully received.
Enjoy!
This is the 5th instalment of stimulus cards, questions and an exercise for improvisation in preparation for the AQA oral exam.
**Please note there might be a problem seeing the preview. TES are aware of this and are trying to solve the issue.**
The stimulus cards focus, amongst other subtopics, on the celebration of El Día E (Día del español); el "tapeo", regional stereotypes ("Ocho Apellidos Vascos");the waste of food in La Tomatina... This time I have put more emphasis on the students being critical and analytical, as they would have moved to the second part of the AS and they are more able to make comparisons, deductions, etc. The cards include the source so that they can not only be practiced in class but could be used for background reading prior to the preparation and practice.
The general questions are self explanatory! Finally, I have included an exercise for improvisation where students have to say/write the opposite and can develop arguments as detailed as you ask them!
I welcome any feedback on this resource or any of the series (they are all published in TES). Hopefully, they will make your life easier and your students will feel challenged, enjoy and learn with them.
Hasta la próxima, Blanca
This is the first in a series of revision notes. They are a summary of key information/ideas and not a collection of data. They revise ideas for the speaking cards and also key vocabulary in context. They can be used in preparation for end of unit tests, mock exams and for the real exams.
The updated version contains a section on women and work and on gender violence.
Kindly respect copyright and do not distribute freely. Your feedback is welcome.
This is a second instalment of stimulus cards and general questions for the preparation of the oral AQA exam (the first instalment, for Los valores tradicionales y modernos, was also published via TES ).
This 15 page booklet includes a very brief description of the exam and the mark scheme for the first part of the exam. It has 8 stimulus cards with question types similar to those in the exam, general questions on the three subtopics and two pages of stretch and challenge statements that can be used for oral or written responses.
I have not included a list of questions starters, which I included in the booklet on Los valores tradicionales y modernos, as I would not want you to buy the same content again. I did however think it necessary to include a brief description of the exam structure and mark scheme so that your students have a quick reference guide.
I hope you like the work and it makes your teaching easier. I welcome any feedback at this site or privately at: bgp@stbrn.ac.uk. Many thanks for your support.
This compilation of cards includes sub-themes such as the exile of children during the Civil War, bringing down Franco's statues, the economic boom during Franco times, Letizia as a plebeian, etc., in one word, as much variety as possible, all within range! The general questions are followed by a selection of photographs to be used as preparation for presentations, or as a starting point for the IRP. I feel at this point of the course, students should be able to work from visual stimuli on their own!
I have also published a set of revision notes to accompany the cards (if you deem it necessary).
Please leave a comment if you purchase this resource. Your feedback is very helpful to me.
Happy teaching and learning! Blanca
Here is a set of revision notes on the topic of young people, including cutting-edge areas such as the NINIS in Latinoamerica, differences between young people in Spain and Latinoamerica, examples of activism, values and ways of entertainment... These should help for students to make their own revision cards, as a means to revise key concepts an ideas, to prepare speaking cards, as a springboard for the preparation of the IRP. The format is deliberately simple, so that it can be easily adapted.
Any comments welcome. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.
These notes are a comprehensive summary of the topic, and they can be used to support the speaking cards (my collection or others), to revise the unit, for self and independent study. They include cutting edge aspects of the topic, such as "La Bestia" and Trump's proposals for tougher laws to curb illegal inmigration.
If you find these notes useful, please visit my shop for other batches on different units.
Your feedback is really appreciated either here or at bgp@stbrn.ac.uk.
Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.
A set of 10 cards touching upon a variety of sub-topics including Toledo as a a city of three cultures, Lavapiés (a suburb in Madrid) as an example of a successful diverse quarter , the santería, threats to social coexistence, etc. Many cards have links to newspaper articles that students can read to prepare the card or for extension reading. This is followed by general questions that allow students to reflect on knowledge of the world around them as well as that of the Hispanic world. The game consists of a serious of statements that students have to place the context for and analyse.
I have also published revision notes for this topic.
Happy teaching and learning,
Blanca
Revision notes on this "bodrio" of a theme! I have tried to simplify as much as possible a subject that I believe is not too appealing for the majority of students. You can use the revision notes in a variety of ways: students make flash cards with them, to introduce a subtopic, to revise vocab in context, for ideas for the IRP, etc.
A set of stimulus cards and general questions complements these notes, but both usable as individual resources.
Feedback on this resource always welcome. And thanks for those who are showing continuous support for my work.
Enjoy,
Blanca
A varied collection of cards on evictions and La Ley Mordaza, indigenous protests in Guatemala, Catalonia, rubbish collection protests, etc. You are spoilt for variety here! These cards are followed by general questions.
The cards and questions can be used in class, set for homework, used in mocks or anything that stretches your imagination!
I have also published revision notes on this topic. These can help with the preparation of some cards or to consolidate/extend knowledge of the topic.
Feedback is always welcome.
Enjoy,
Blanca
