This is a PowerPoint which could be used either as an assembly or as a tutor time/registration time activity. It explains the meaning behind National Coming Out Day and why it is important, includes real life coming out stories from celebrities and other LGBTQ people, and has a slide which includes charities that young people can go to for support and advice. The slides finish with a copy of Dean Atta’s poem How To Come Out As Gay from the book The Black Flamingo.
This is a resource designed for commemorating the AIDs crisis, as part of LGBTQ+ History Month during February. This resource could be used as an assembly, a tutor time presentation, or as a lesson. It should take between 20 and 25 minutes to deliver in full, so if used as a lesson you may wish to add some written tasks (some suggestions are given in the powerpoint itself).
There are detailed notes in the notes section of each powerpoint slide, to aid delivery and help with background knowledge in case the students have questions.
The final slide has space for you to include and signpost in-school support that is specific to your school, as well as some AIDS and LGBTQ+ youth charities you can also signpost students towards.
A lesson all about what “Transgender” means in line with the new RSE Curriculum. Also contains talking points for students, discussions about gender, how to be an ally, and signposting to charities and organisations which can help support students and their families.
This is a CPD resource to be used for training staff in how and when to deal with homophobic/ biphobic/ transphobic comments that take place in the classroom.
The CPD could be sent out as an email, could be used in a 15/20 minute briefing, or used as part of a longer CPd session on inclusivity etc.
It also discusses what constitutes LGBTQ+phobic behaviour and comments, how to recognise them and when to deal with them. There is some use of statistics from some Stonewall studies to show the prevalence of LGBTQ+phobic language, as well as on the impact of this on LGBTQ+ Students.
Please Note: This resource will need some input from the user to reflect the behaviour policy/appropriate members of staff/appropriate sanctions etc (for example, if you use SIMs to record bullying as opposed to using CPOMs you will have to edit to reflect this) *
This bundle contains 3 different CPD resources on supporting trans and non binary students and dealing with lgbtq+ phobic behaviour in school. This contains two CPD sessions, as well as a one page easy reference guide to supporting trans and non-binary students.

A bundle containing LGBTQ+ Hero posters, Black History Month LGBTQ+ Heroes and trans icons. Can be used for hard copy displays or plasma/TV screen displays or for assemblies etc
Please be aware there may be some overlap as these were all created seperately.
Included are 6 different assemblies and tutor time powerpoints that you can use and edit as you wish, for different events in the calendar.
Black History Month LGBTQ+ celebration assembly/lesson
Pride Month assembly- focus on Equality
Pride Month Assembly - the history of Pride and being an Ally
LGBTQ+ History Month- The AIDS crisis
LGBTQ+ History Month- Trans history
Diversity Week Assembly- what does it mean to be proud?
Pride assembly- why do people celebrate pride?
The slides are mostly self-explanatory but there is some guidance within the notes section on the slides to help you deliver the assembly should you need it, as well as an explanation slide at the beginning of the powerpoint.
Please be aware that most of these assemblies require you to have a little bit of input on your part- generally it is just updating the slides which tell students who to go to if they have concerns or want to talk.
Thank you so much for celebrating with your students!
The Ally Teacher
Two short tutor time activities that can be used as part of assemblies or form time to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month. One is an icons quiz, with different LGBTQ+ people in the public eye having a pride flag over their face and the students have to guess who they are. The other is a flags quiz containing different LGBTQ flags, with a short explanation of the terminology when clicked on.
Would be great as a registration or form time activity, or as part of an assembly.
Thank you for looking! Happy Pride!
This bundle includes the following:
LGBTQ+ History Month Assembly
Trans and Non-binary support in classroom document
LGBTQ+ Heroes posters for all subjects - ready to print
