A character sort activity involving the main characters in the book The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo. Pupils must sort the cards to match the name of the character, a brief description, a picture of the character and a quote about the character from the text. The activity can be made less challenging by removing one of the categories, such as the quotations, from the sort. The number of characters can also be altered to suit the needs of the pupils. The activity can be carried out in small groups, pairs or individually.
