This is a revision tool as well as an activity to help A-Level students build AO1 knowledge about Gladstone and Disraeli for AQA Industrialisation and the People; Edexcel Britain, c1785–c1870: democracy, protest and reform. This 18-question test includes the correct answers. Hand out the test, allow students 15-minutes to revise on their own, 15-minutes to test each others verbally (allowing the study buddy to guide if they don't get it right), and then 20-minutes to complete the test. This resources also includes a blank version for students to complete.
This 60-minute A-Level lesson explores the question 'How far did Britain suffer a ‘Great Depression’ 1873 and 1896'. This lesson suits most exam board covering Units such as AQA Industrialisation and the People; Edexcel Britain, c1785–c1870: democracy, protest and reform. Students start by reading a segment from Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest - showing demographic changes due to depression). Revisit at the end of the lesson once they have analysed the effects of the depression. There are several tasks in the lesson, allowing for discussion around evidence 'was there a depression?' to dealing with factors such as demography and socio-economic effects. Students build a case for and against the enquiry question before revising the main question.

In this part of our series on 20th Century History Lessons, students investigate sources around the question 'Freedom fighting or Actions of Terror?'. Two case studies are used: King David Hotel Attack 1946 and the suicide bombing of Maxim Restaurant, 2003. The resources is a great opportunity for class discussion!
They have to rate each source and place it on a sliding scale; how they think each source support the idea of 'Freedom Fighting' or 'Terrorist Attack'.
This is a lesson resource that can easily be adapted with more recent acts of terror.
In this part of our series of 20th Century History lessons, we explore Lloyd George's attempt at creating a country 'fit for heroes' after WW1. Students analyse an extract from his famous 'fit for heroes' speech as well as a poem which sets a contrasting tone about British social classes in 1918-1920s. Students then work with evidence, analysing how far Lloyd George did in fact succeed. The lesson concludes with an opportunity for a PEEL (Point Evidence Explain Lin) write-up.
This assembly starts with a riddle to solve as students settle. The next part of the assembly deals with stories of some legendary public figures who never gave up - growth mindset and strong resilience. You then consider the question 'When is the last time you failed?'. Why not share your own! The assembly then looks at VALUES which can help in overcoming and dealing with failures and mistakes - 'If you were to mix a potion which could help with dealing with setbacks and failure, which two ingredients do you think would be in it? ' . Either use those listed in this presentation or add your own school values. The assembly examines five 'Top Tips for Dealing with Failures' and then explores a case-study about Malala Yousafzai.

This is an assembly which explores the theme of 'Humility' and focuses on the issues of showing humility in taking advice. This assembly works well for Key Stage 2, KS3 or KS4 (has been delivered to all!) and can also be used as Collective Worship - a prayer is included at the end. The assembly starts by exploring the story of Icarus and Daedalus with a FULL SCRIPT included. You will then raise the issues of humility in general and link to others trying hard to take advice (example is the infamous Kayne West with full notes in the notes section). You will then ask a series of questions to the group, class, form or whole school. These questions can either be delivered rhetorically or open to discussion.

This assembly deals with the theme of humility and focuses on 'Living a Humble Life'. This assembly works well for Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and KS4. The assembly can be delivered to smaller groups, individual forms or as a whole school assembly. The main emphasis of the theme deals with Jesus and the Woman by the Well, using an accompanying image with FULL SCRIPT which could be read 'as is' or adapted for the audience. The assembly ends with a brief video clip showing how simple actions can help in living a humble, kind, life.

This 60-minute A-Level lesson provides an in-depth lecture with accompanying task for students. Students complete a mind-map whilst the teacher explains issues such as the relationship between Party and State; The role of Hitler and interpretations; The role of Hitler; The SS; Gestapo; SS-Police-SD System; and The Gestapo; the SS.

The aim of this A-Level Sociology game is to become experts in a field. In teams of three or more, students prepare to rehearse a set of questions on the topics of: Functionalist Sex Role Theory/Patriarchal Control; Liberation Theory; Class Deals. Round 1: Each team is quizzed on their topic. If they do not get it, the question is put aside. The other team can choose to answer at the end of round 1. Round 2: Teams swap question sets. Repeat process for Round 1. Round 3: Both teams go head-to-head with all questions.
