Moana 2: Musical Adventures

(0)
This resource immerses the class in the world of Disney’s Moana 2 using sounds and music as stimuli to learn about the main characters in the film and allow learners to demonstrate and develop their musical abilities using collaborative, creative and fun activities while drawing on rhythmic concepts and styles. With links to both the music and KS1 maths curriculums, the Bring the Beat activity sheet first guides learners through the profiles of the characters, who have been assigned a particular musical sound, which can be recreated through body percussion. Learners then work individually to decode a pattern of character images on the activity sheet into a series of sounds, creating a musical sequence that can be performed to the class. In addition, they can identify and extend the pattern of sounds in each sequence. Working in groups where appropriate, learners also devise their own musical key with a new set of images and corresponding sounds, allowing them to make a new musical sequence and create their own repeating body percussion pattern. This can then be performed to the class as they try to guess what sound comes next in the sequence.

Get your class ready for adventure with this exciting resource based on the upcoming release of Paddington in Peru. This resource focuses on core curriculum areas including English and maths as well as geography and science. Learners will receive a mysterious letter which they will need to decipher before they find out the reason for their adventure. They will then watch the trailer and think about what it means for Paddington to travel home. Pupils will investigate The Brown Family and reflect upon their own skills and talents, considering why they would be an excellent travelling companion. To develop their understanding of Peru, your class will note features of the rainforest landscape, leading to an activity discovering habitats and wildlife. In a maths-based bag packing challenge, learners will note that they need more than just a passport and marmalade sandwiches to have a successful trip and will choose from a range of items to take with them, making sure they don’t exceed their baggage allowance! The home learning task will encourage pupils to share their new knowledge about Peru with their families by considering why they would want to go there. They will also think about who they would take with them on a trip, considering what it means to travel away from home and why family and friends are important companions. The optional competition will encourage the idea that adventures can happen anywhere. Competition entrants will plan a day out with Paddington – where would they take him and what would they show him?
