GERMAN TELLING THE TIME O'CLOCK WORKSHEETS FREEBIE

PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN BEGINNER GERMAN HOW TO TELL THE TIME IN GERMAN O’CLOCK ANALOGUE WORKSHEETS FREEBIE The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom. The license is a single-user license only. The resource is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of German, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time. I give my students these worksheets when I’m introducing o’clock in German, so that they can practise and embed both recognizing the time, and writing the time phrase itself. Students really enjoy the opportunity to test their recall too. The worksheets are useful in a number of contexts: I use them for cover lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities. I occasionally use them for more formal assessment purposes too. Students also find this How to tell the time in German o’clock list freebie helpful: HOW TO TELL TIME IN GERMAN : O’CLOCK LIST FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-telling-the-time-o-clock-list-freebie-12316801 Have a browse in my store for more German super simple worksheets, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ENGLISH SPEAKING PRACTICE CARDS FREEBIE

ESL EFL ENGLISH SPEAKING PRACTICE CARDS This is a free set of 15 English language speaking prompts, with suggested responses. My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of English grammar too. There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner to intermediate English students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame. I always laminate my language learning cards, even though the prep is a bit time-consuming - they’re far sturdier and easier to use, and will definitely last for years! KS3 GERMAN GRAMMAR GCSE GERMAN GRAMMAR A LEVEL GERMAN GRAMMAR KS4 GERMAN GRAMMAR KS5 GERMAN GRAMMAR Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license is a single-user license only. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. Ideal reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency German conjunctions and connectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 35 high-frequency common German conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner to intermediate stages of German learning programs, and useful for students beginning advanced German as a vocabulary audit. It’s an important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognise German conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in their first / home language, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences and texts as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 35 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing German vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. There are two alphabetical lists - one German-English, and one English-German, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I generally use for German grammar display, and plain. Have a browse in my store for more German vocabulary reference lists, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, German resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a first collection of 25 high-frequency French adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner French into intermediate French learning programs - it’s an important step in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful French adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize French adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing French vocabulary in general. There are two alphabetical lists - one French-English, and one English-French, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag (which is good for French vocabulary display), and plain white. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on adjectives in French for your students, the list is a good starting point. The questions are entirely in French, with some translation questions both from French into English, and***English into French***. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows quarter past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. Twenty vegetables in French, with both words and pictures - I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my Primary French learners, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. Children glue them into their French vocabulary books, or file them in their French vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful French reference bank for both class and home learning. We also discuss which vegetables we know and like, and those we would like to try. Children like to create their own visual vocabulary lists, adding to them as they learn more vocabulary. I don’t necessarily have all the vegetables in my teaching and learning plan, but it’s always a good idea to give children opportunity to engage with a broader range of words and sounds, which they begin to absorb quite naturally. The vegetables focus on the definite article, either singular or plural, which is a great for promoting discussion about grammatical concepts in French, specifically gender of French nouns. The vegetables are: the artichoke the asparagus the aubergine the beetroot the broccoli the cabbage the carrots the cauliflower the garlic the leek the lettuce the mushrooms the onions the peas the pepper the potatoes the spinach the sweetcorn the tomato There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag, which I use for French vocabulary display, or plain. FRENCH CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY LIST FREEBIE

(6)
PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 FRENCH YEAR 7 FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORDS & PICTURES A great French Christmas picture & vocabulary reference resource for younger learners of French. It works well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are 20 common French Christmas words with pictures that I’ve found ideal for children learning French. I’ve used a blend of masculine and feminine nouns, definite article and indefinite article and there are some plurals too. I use this to stimulate discussion about articles, the concept of gender in French (which is often quite contrary to some learners’ first language, such as English), and forming the plural in French. It’s also great for promoting discussion about Christmas traditions and practices in France and French regions, as well as other French-speaking countries, comparing them to other Christmas customs with which students are familiar. Over time, I encourage students to add to the list - by the end of their French learning programme, they’ll have a comprehensive French Christmas vocabulary bank. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Christmas colours (which I tend to use as part of a French Christmas display), and blackline snow. Have a browse in my store for more French Christmas resources, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, French resource boxes, and lots of freebies. Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie set features two differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. They focus on a range of countries where Spanish is an official language, with reference to a number of countries where a significant number of the population speak Spanish as their first or second language. The word searches really do help students develop their knowledge and awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, and just how widely Spanish is spoken around the globe. The word searches work well across the school year, not only when you’re focusing on Spanish-speaking countries. I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers and for cover lessons quite regularly, as this helps embed students’ learning, and they genuinely enjoy putting their memory to the test! GERMAN IDIOMS POSTERS FREEBIE #1

(6)
GCSE GERMAN A LEVEL GERMAN IDIOMS German Speaking Practice Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei - Everything has an end, only the sausage has two! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real German ambiance, promoting the everyday use of German. There are two backgrounds - the German flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection! FRENCH VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER

(3)
GCSE FRENCH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER I’ve created a lot of quick conjugation workbooks for my students and they’re really popular and effective. They’re a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups and tenses in French. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. Students really benefit from several opportunities to work through the workbook, once or twice a term across a whole school year is a great way of both mapping progress and developing overall understanding and competence. The workbooks focus on specific sets of 25 high-frequency verbs in a range of tenses. They include modals, regular, irregular & mixed and reflexive verbs. Each workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French : English and English : French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. BACK TO SCHOOL FRENCH GREETINGS BONJOUR BUNTING It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting not only to create a real French look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting works well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall.
