Create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, promoting Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of the classroom. Telling the time is key beginner Spanish vocabulary, which is really useful to know as soon as possible, and students are able to familiarise themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and also how sounds are represented in the written form.
I use these kinds of flashcards / posters to gradually introduce and work on the specific target language vocabulary we’re working on, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward ¿Qué hora es? to ¿Sí/ no? or ¿Verdadero o falso? questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as negative sentences No, no es medianoche, es mediodía and so on, paying particular attention here to the masculine and feminine.
These are really simple ways to really try to get the most from classroom learning dsiplay, using them as visual language prompts, as well as keeping the target vocabulary fresh in students’ minds, and as language refresh and revision by changing the display at certain points of the school year. I like to have sets of learning displays for students, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time.
Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating.
The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or plain, so 56 flashcards / posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years!

My younger students love to see Spanish displays in the classroom, and they also work really well for older beginner Spanish learners too. There are 25 vegetables, definite article, feminine and masculine, singular and plural, which is a really effective way of promoting discussion about the concept of gender in Spanish.
I tend to vary my Spanish classroom displays quite regularly, and have different posters up at various times of the school year. We use them as***speaking and pronunciation prompts, and for guessing games too***. We don’t actually learn 25 vegetables at this stage, but I use a range that includes some that children may not know yet, such as asparagus and artichoke. That’s ideal for discussing healthy eating, and for generally developing children’s vocabulary in their own language too. The posters work really well as flashcards too, and they’re great for introducing and practising language with a ‘low-tech’ method, giving us all a break from the whiteboard, which children definitely enjoy.
The vegetables are:
artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber ; eggplants / aubergines; French / green beans; garlic;; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas ; red peppers ; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato

These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish.
There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo.

perfect for developing knowledge and locational understanding of Africa the game cards provide great learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year! Students can develop their knowledge of the geography of Africa in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 54 flag cards, and 54 country with capital city cards, featuring all African countries, capital cities and flags. There are also detachable country, capital cities and country & capitals together labels that students use to label the flags - labeling the flags with their respective countries and capitals is a really good way of consolidating learning.
There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Africa, its capital cities, and its flags. The cards use the current formal names of countries, such as Gabonese Republic, and I’ve used the more common Gabon on the labels, as I’ve found that this helps learners familiarize themselves with both names.
There is a country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capitals, which students find useful to read through before playing - allow them only 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and increase the sense of competition if you are playing competitive team games! It can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning folders. Laminate the cards and reference sheets if you can - you will be able to use them for years to come. The games work best if played regularly and frequently, as this consolidates learning really successfully, and students love to see if they can beat their own time record.
Laminate the cards, labels and reference sheets if you can - it’s definitely a lot of prep, but it’s well worth it, as not only are the materials far more learner-friendly, they also last for absolutely years.

Perfect for geography class, as well as a general knowledge quiz: an ideal way for students to learn and test their knowledge of the states and capitals of the USA. There are four multiple choice quizzes, each question with four possible answers to choose from, 160 individual questions in total. The correct answer is given in capital letters.
The quizzes work well as a whole, small-group or paired oral quiz. Each quiz card is numbered in a particular place according to the particular quiz, so that the cards can be easily sorted and organised before and after playing. Laminate if you can - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they cards are more learner-friendly and remain in excellent condition for years, so you’ll get lots of use from them.

My students love to learn independently, and really enjoy playing the games in pairs or small groups - I’ve described several that work particularly well for them. Even my more advanced students like to revisit the vocab, just to be sure they’re confident with it. It’s best to revisit the vocab regularly and frequently over a whole school year, not just when you’re focusing on these specific vocab groups. They can apply their French practically by creating games or vocab quiz cards for each other using the card template.
Writing out vocabulary can also really help learners consolidate their vocab - the 18-page workbook has 3 differentiated recall and write challenges. I always like to give my students longer-term reference resources, so I’ve put a full French-English vocabulary list at the front of the workbook.
If you can, do laminate the cards - I know it’s time-consuming, but they look great, are better to work and learn with in the classroom, and really do last in great condition for years.

There are 198 cards in total. There are lots of games and activities which students really enjoy - I’ve described some of the ones that my students love. It’s good to let students work and learn independently, and we use these not only when we’re introducing these particular vocab groups, but at regular intervals during the school year (and beyond!), as this is a really good way to ensure that students are consolidating their French vocabulary. I let my students work with them independently at frequent intervals, both during the introduction phase, and regularly afterwards, giving them maximum opportunity to consolidate the vocab. They like to create game/quiz cards for each other with the card template.

There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges in the workbook - my students really benefit from writing out vocabulary independently, and at their own pace - I often give multiple workbooks over a school year - it’s a really successful way of consolidating vocab, as well as practising spelling. This set of French Conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for intermediate French to advanced French students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, regardless of level, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce accurately language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.
The questions feature a range of tenses and moods, such as the present tense, present subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, and conditional perfect. There are several questions focusing on si + imperfect + conditional clauses, and a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, such as agreement with preceding direct object, use of the subjunctive and so on.
I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning, which is just as important for more advanced learners.

These French speaking prompts are perfect for developing French speaking skills - 100 question and answer cards and a reference book focusing on beginning and general conversation, with some cultural information. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning - they give students structured talk opportunities and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work - my students frequently select the speaking and writing cards for their free-choice learning activity. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the advanced beginner to intermediate stages of their French programme, including a range of tenses.
The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in French. Students find it a very useful learning support resources and it’s also handy for whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice. Students use the Ideas, Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning - we use this to guide and inform discussions we have as a whole-group about where students think they are at the moment, and what they think they might like to work a little more on. They also jot down ideas for their own question and answers that they create for each other.
The question and answer card writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their French very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other, using the reference book as a form of writing frame to help them form their language correctly. This is a great team activity too. We also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with that work really well for us.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION STARTERS #1
ESL EFL BEGINNER ENGLISH CONVERSATION STARTERS This set of English conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for advanced beginner English students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.

Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going.
As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards amongst your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group.

Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.
The questions feature a range of tenses and moods, such as the present tense, present subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, and conditional perfect. There are several questions focusing on i***f + subjunctive + conditional clauses***. There is a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, particularly the use of tenses. I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, as the activity is not solely about practicing language, but also about actively learning it.
Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in English. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts.
Frequent and regular engagement with the activity brings the best results: with the planning sheet, students can create and prepare increasingly detailed and more complex responses, reflecting their learning progress. I definitely find it useful to read through the questions together as a whole-group, with students offering initial suggested responses. This ensures everyone can actually access the language, and they also benefit a lot from each others’ ideas.
As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards amongst your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group.

I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning, which is just as important for more advanced learners.

The content mirrors that of the conversation starters, and really does help students consolidate and embed essential advanced beginner Spanish to intermediate Spanish language across all key language skills.
All the sentences are in question format. There are 200 translation questions in total: 100 from Spanish to English, and then repeated from English to Spanish. Translation is a specific skill that students need to work on carefully and gradually as they progress in their language learning. It’s quite common for beginner language learners to attempt to translate word for word from their first / home language, and though this will work occasionally, it frequently leads to errors.

Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best German accent to find all the matching verbs cards in German and English. The card templates allow students to apply their German knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory.
There are three differentiated recall challenges:
Written Recall Challenge One students write the English verbs from a German prompt, with all the verbs in alphabetical order, German-English.
Written Recall Challenge Two again, students write the verbs in English from a German prompt, but the German verbs are now in random, rather than alphabetical order. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order.
