Playing a Glockenspiel - Unit 3
10 Music Lessons
Suitable for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2.
Comprising of ten detailed, easy to follow music lessons for pupils with a range of abilities; this unit builds on the skills learned in Units 1 and 2.
There are at least ten music lessons in this unit but depending on the age an ability of your pupils, you may choose to deliver them in smaller chunks.
This unit of work reinforces how to play glockenspiels correctly, how to read, play and perform using lettered score. It teaches pupils a wider range of songs and introduces three-part harmony.
Pupils also learn to use a wider range of musical terms and signs.
It can be delivered to a small group of three, or as many pupils as you have.
You do not have to have a musical background to teach it.
These resources will support your delivery of the National Curriculum for Music. This unit focuses on Listening and Playing (National Curriculum for Music 2013). In addition, the activities also aid development of a range of wider skills including focus, team-work, performing, coordination and confidence.

Ten original, percussion-based, Christmas-themed pieces suitable for pupils in years 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Ideal for Christmas shows, carol services, reviews and Christmas-themed music lessons.
Minimal resources are required, only bells, chime bars, cymbals, glockenspiels, triangles and claves/woodblocks and not all are needed for every piece!
Pupils learn about the percussion family, how to play their instruments correctly, how to read, play and perform using lettered score with the option of a traditional notated music score.
Pupils also learn to use range of musical terms and signs.
Each piece has detailed step-by-step instructions and printable scores.
