Heat Maps can be displayed or printed for each pair of pupils. Each heat map increases in difficulty indicated by the hotness, the redder/hotter the more difficult the question. Pupils choose a cell to start at and perform the given operation with the corresponding element of the question from the x and y axis.
This heat map requires pupils to add together the algebraic fractions, this is with increased difficulty due to the denominator being made up of algebraic terms or expressions. This resource is available as part of a Heat Map Bundle, check it out!

Updated April 2018*- This resources has new content added. It now includes one set in the traditional fan and pick style (i.e. answer on the question cards) and a second version of the question cards with the answer removed. Therefore giving more flexibility for how you might use them with your students. Previous buyers, please re-download to access new content.
Fan and Pick promotes cooperative learning, creating situations for discussions around finding the correct answer and not just what the answer is. They can be used as a plenary activity to determine what learning has taken place, used to determine pupils prior knowledge to a topic and of course great for revision.
This Fan and Pick has a set of 12 question cards, each card has three questions differentiated by hotness and covers rounding from basics e.g. nearest ten to given number of significant figures and identifying the lower bound.
If you’ve enjoyed this resource you should check out the Fan and Pick Bundle! Please note this resource is also available as part of that bundle.

UPDATED!! New extra content
This resource has been updated March 18 and now includes six worksheets covering a range of questions on topics which can be completed on a scientific calculator efficiently.
Worksheet 1, 1a and 1b covers six topics (powers/roots, place value, remainders, primes, fractions and percentages). Worksheet 2, 2a and 2b covers three overall topics but each progresses in challenge (use of formula, right angled triangles i.e. Pythagoras’ theorem and trigonometry, circles, arcs/sectors).
Worksheet 1 and 2 are condensed, making them ideal for re-use (print and laminate) or displaying on the interactive whiteboard. Whereas 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b provide space for pupils calculations and final answers. I use these ones for homework or revision tasks.
These worksheets complement our 9-1 Efficient Calculator Use Treasure Hunt resource.

This resource covers median, mode, range, quartiles, IQR, estimated mean and modal class interval in the style of revision foldables. There are ten different revision foldables in total on this topic. This resource is also part of our foldables bundle, check it out below.
This pack includes ten foldables (one editable foldable) on the topics of averages and range from lists and tables. They are;
Averages from a list; pupils define and find the mean, median, mode and range for a list of numbers
Averages from a list; pupils define and find the mean, median, mode and range for a list of numbers which your able to insert before printing.
Quartiles from a list ; pupils state the method for each quartile and find the quartiles of the list of numbers
Averages from a discrete frequency table; a frequency table of discrete data is given and pupils are asked to find the mean, median, mode and range
Averages from a grouped frequency table; a grouped frequency table is given and pupils are asked to find the estimated mean, median, modal class interval and range (they will need guidance as to maximum and minimum range)
In this pack there is at least two versions of each type of foldable more than one version of each therefore one could be used during the learning phase as an example and another during revision. In addition on download you will receive two pdf’s, one is UK size paper (A4) and the second letter size (US), please print from the most appropriate following the printing instructions provided.
