This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 8 “Acids and Alkalis” from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science and Chemistry courses. It starts off gently, focusing on key facts and word equations, then builds to include balanced equations and ionic equations. The bundle includes nine full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources, plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. Having delivered this to many classes, my suggested teaching order is: Acids, Alkalis and Indicators; pH and Acid Strength (Higher only), Reactions of Acids, Balanced Equations for Acid Reactions, Investigating Neutralisation, Preparing Copper Sulphate, Titrations, Solubility and Precipitates (two lessons). This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 13 (topic 17 for Separate Science) “Groups in the Periodic Table” from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science course. The bundle includes four full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. Having delivered this to three classes already, my suggested teaching order is: Noble Gases, Alkali Metals, Halogens and Halogen Reactivity. This gets the dry intro out of the way first before focusing solidly on the more complex topics that typically feature on exam papers. Full lesson PowerPoint sufficient to teach a broad range of abilities about protoctists and their cellular features, with a focus on the importance of algae. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers. Also included is an ICT extension task summarising the impact that fungi, bacteria and protoctists can have on human health. I have used this previously for a full additional lesson of consolidation while delivering the unicellular organisms topic.

This full lesson PowerPoint (including practical activity) can be used to teach a broad range of abilities about evaporation and boiling, and how to evaporate the solvent from a solution. This lesson assumes that students have already had a lesson to train them in lighting and using Bunsen burners. If this has not been done, I have a suitable lesson available in my shop entitled “Science Practical Skills - Using Bunsen Burners”. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.

These PowerPoints and worksheets will allow you to teach HIGHER TIER ONLY GCSE Chemistry content on Moles. This lesson introduces the concept of a mole in terms of Avogadro’s number, exemplifies how to calculate the number of moles from mass of a substance and vice versa, and shows how to use moles to calculate numbers of particles of a substance **There are two versions of this lesson and worksheet provided. One is aimed at Triple Science students only, as it includes coverage of concentrations in mol dm-3, which is something that Combined Science students do not need to learn ** Other lessons on Calculations involving Mass (including subsequent lessons on using moles) are available from my shop.
