I have a wealth of resources that are aimed primarily at KS4 and KS5; however, there are some useful KS3 tasks that have been uploaded this year. Topics at KS5 include: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1941; Later Tudors, 1547-1603; Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries; Italian Unification, 1830-1870; and Germany, 1890-1990. As well as History, I also have a few resources relating to Geography and ICT that some users may find helpful.

This is a great field work topic with several different aspects; however, each areas comes under the umbrella of sustainability. Students will need to visit 2 different supermarkets (we visited a small M&S and a large Tesco within walking distance of the school) and find the countries of origin of several fruits and vegetables. As a class we then: labelled these on a blank map of the world (for a display), calculated the distance travelled and created graphs (Excel, cross-curricular with ICT!) based on food miles/carbon emissions. Another aspect was packaging and recycled products. Students had to fill in a survey of the products in the supermarkets; we also interview customers and members of staff for their shopping habits. This all culminated in a huge display on sustainability. This resource can be adapted for any KS3 class and can be used as a stand alone topic or as part of ecosystems/sustainability topics. It would be great for PSHE too!

Resources relating to a Year 8 Geography lesson on coastal defences. Included is a PowerPoint presentation where students are introduced to the different types of sea defences that are available (encourage comments on cost, appearance, suitability etc.) Students can then use the worksheets to decide how they would defend the coast line of Hornsea (I laminated the map so they could draw on their ideas with whiteboard pens). You could stretch G&T students by applying costs to the different types of defences and giving them a budget, or you could throw a curve ball such as: 'residents have said they do not want sea walls'. These are great resources for introducing coastal defences and students can then begin to compare the benefits/limitations of each.

Various resources from a Year 8 topic on Coasts (but could be adapted for any KS3 Geography class). Included are PowerPoint presentations (with diagrams, photos, links to animations and questions) on landforms created by erosion/deposition. Also included are two worksheets: the first is a quick starter where students need to match up the processes of erosion with the description; the second is a homework task on erosion, where students have to provide longer responses.

30 mark (35 minute) test on rivers, flooding and the water cycle for Year 7. This was based on the content from the Geog.1 text books; however, it is suitable for any topic on rivers at KS3. Students have to label a diagram of the water cycle, define key terms, draw diagrams and produce longer responses on flood defences. This assessment should be accessible for lower ability students whilst the longer responses will stretch G&T pupils. There is no mark scheme with this assessment; however, it is relatively straight forward to put one together based on the content that has been covered in your class. I am aware that some content may have been missed out due to time restrictions, so this test is easily modified.

A short, 10 minute key words test for students learning about rivers and the water cycle. This was used for a Year 7 lesson; however, it could easily be adapted for any KS3 scheme of work or even GCSE! The key terms for this topic are numerous and these are just a selection of some of the ones that students find tricky. Great as a starter or for homework.

Resources to be used as part of a Year 7 Geography lesson on flooding/flood defences. Small groups of students are each given a card with a reason for flooding; they must explain in their groups why that factor may increase/decrease the risk of flooding (then rotate the cards and feedback as a class). I have included an information sheet to be given out alongside this (can easily be turned into a gap fill!) Also included is a PowerPoint presentation with the different types of flood defences. Students can complete a comparison table of each defence based on its cost, lifespan, appearance etc. and rank the defences.

Resources relating to a Year 7 Geography lesson on sketch maps. Included alongside the lesson plan is a PowerPoint presentation. Students have to review the features of a map using the coloured pages in their books and sketch maps are then introduced. As an activity/homework, students create their own sketch maps of a theme park, adding in various symbols and making it visually appealing/informative. I printed off a couple of maps of Alton Towers/Thorpe Park to pass around the class (as shown on the PowerPoint), so students could see the level of detail (or lack of it) they needed.

Brief PowerPoint presentation on geological time to be used alongside the Geog.1 text book for Year 7 pupils (although, it could be adapted for a Science lesson on evolution). Students are asked to define 'eon' and 'era' and use their traffic light pages in their planners to answer questions on a timeline digram (found in the text book). I've also included a lesson plan.

A challenging worksheet focusing on 'Earth's Story' and what order things first appeared on Earth. This was used as an introductory lesson in Year 7 Geography; however, it could certainly be incorporated into Science SOW on Evolution, or as an introductory History lesson on chronology! The first half of the worksheet is relatively straightforward; however, some students may need supporting with the final question (Earth's story as a 24hr clock) as it is a tricky concept for some to get their heads around.

Two worksheets on the formation of glaciers and the difference between erosion, transportation and deposition. These resources are to be used in conjunction with the Geog.1 unit on Glaciers for Year 7 pupils (however, it can certainly be adapted for other age groups). Also included is a revision song on glaciers to the tune of 'Merry Christmas, Everyone!' (It's a Glacier, Everyone! - It helped that it was Christmas time...) This is such a tricky topic to teach, so any opportunity to get pupils using the key terms is useful.

Included are various resources relating to microclimates that formed part of our field work in Year 7 Geography. Students review how to measure the weather, are introduced to microclimates and then label a diagram. Other resources are for use on the day of the field work, where students walk around the school grounds to pre-determined location to measure the weather; they then think about land use and make decisions. I have also included an 'Exploring Microclimates' PDF provided by School Grounds UK/Learning Through Landscapes. This gives instructions on how to carry out microclimate field work.

Students write down which fact they think is true. This is a great way to introduce the country and dispel any myths.
