‘Smallville vs The Big Smoke’ is a hilarious, inspiring, entertaining and educational script for performing in (extended) assemblies, whole school performances or end of year shows for parents and carers, et al. It makes impactful use of satire and familiar political situations, that all young people will at once recognise and want to tackle!
There are a wide range of speaking and non-speaking parts, enabling Higher Ability, less able and SEN students to all get involved!
The themes are relatable, current and important, and the overall message of building a community and working together for a brighter, safer future has never been more necessary!
Putting on a performance of this scale can galvanize a school community and bring out the best in all our students and staff. Departments can collaborate on reading, performance, rehearsal, set design, choreography, music and sound effects, etc. and utilise, develop and hone the skills and interests of children from 10 - 16, although Higher Ability students could access and enjoy performing the script and exploring and developing ideas even earlier!
