A verb game to use KS4 to get pupils to practise their key verb conjugations and use them in context. Pupils roll the dice, land on a square and then have to make a sentence using that verb. The verbs are also all conjugated on the back of the board so as the other player, or a referee, can monitor accuracy. This resource is both in .pdf & .doc.

A standalone whole lesson resource on the environmental impact of mass tourism in the Balearic islands. The activities are based on an article suitable for A Level, rich in up-to-date cultural references (A04). El año pasado fui a España. A resource for a whole lesson including a higher reading text with language exercises and a challenging translation task. The text includes lots of extension language including subjunctive and imperfect subjunctive phrases which pupils can then recycle in their own work. El cine y la televisión. This is a Spanish translation resource pack on the topic of TV & cinema with answers and will help pupils prepare for the translation part of the exam. There are 40 sentences in total, 20 different sentences to translate into each language, which recycle key TV & cinema vocabulary, complex and idiomatic structures and specific grammar points. A stand alone lesson to introduce the topic of holidays using some key past tense verbs. The resources (a PowerPoint and Worksheet) will guide pupils to be able to talk about their holidays in the past tense by the end of the lesson. The key verbs are introduced and pupils do activities to recognise and memorise these. These are then used in a reading so pupils can start to see how they work. Pupils are then introduced to the rules for -AR verb conjugation and have an opportunity to practise key verbs for the topic, with all subject pronouns. The plenary brings all of this together by asking pupils to write/ say a paragraph based on the visual information on a slide. They can then use this as a model for their own work. There is also a plenary reading comprehension task with a gap-fill activity and this can then be used by pupils to model their own answer on.

A revision sheet on mi pueblo/ mi barrio. Pupils can pair antonyms, revise the structures lo bueno and lo malo and there is also a reading activity where pupils read four short descriptions and then have to decide if they are positive or negative.

Activities on el tiempo libre for extension work for GCSE. There is a reading comprehension, gap-fill, true false and key vocabulary search. There is a translation exercise with a focus on key adverbials of time and it introduces the construction "pasar + gerund" for time. There is finally a short written question to consolidate pupil learning incorporating all the above and demonstrate progress.

A reading comprehension to use with pupils to practise using the preterite tense in the context of holidays. There are four accounts of different holidays in the past tense and two reading comprehension questions: one is tick the box and the other requires full answers. These texts can also be models for pupils own work and help them to scaffold their ideas. The resource is in .doc and .pdf and with answers too.

A speaking mat and support sheets for pupils when describing a photo in Spanish. There are lots of useful phrases to help with describing the photo itself, as well as lots of complex language and Grade 8 constructions for pupils to include. There is a speaking mat for revision and a support sheets with: phrases to introduce a photo, past tense expressions, weather phrases, using the gerund, complex constructions to include, useful connectives, opinion phrases etc. My own pupils have found this very useful and it provides an excellent scaffold for them producing high quality work.
