Lesson 9 on AQA 9-1 Specification Crime & Deviance This lesson looks at Official Statistics. It is relatively short due to the fact that a retrieval quiz happens as the first activity. Provides marketplace activities for the 3 methods of collecting crime statistics. Series of differentiated questions for the end task.

Planned for New 9-1 Specification Lesson looking at absolute and relative poverty. Lots of UK statistics for class discussion around what they believe constitutes poverty, causes and consequences of poverty. Students then look at Peter Townsends (1979) study into relative poverty, critique it and answer 2x 3mark questions.

New spec 9-1. Introductory lesson looks at the definition of family and household. The starter activity is a quiz that builds up with one question every lesson. So by the end of the unit the starter will be an 18 question quiz. The idea is that the question is something they won’t know/challenging, that they will learn in the lesson. They then answer the same question each lesson, helping them to retain the information as it is repeated each lesson. The question usually focuses on a keyword. Aimed at the new 9-1 spec AQA, but suitable for any exam board by tweaking a couple of slides. Lesson looks at what to expect in the exam, how to tackle a 12 mark question, what is sociology, how is it different to psychology and journalism, and an activity to focus on the key concepts of culture, norms and values. The lesson aims to set Y10 students up ready for the GCSE. A knowledge organiser prepared for the AQA New Spec, but can suit any . Whilst we know Studying Society no longer exists as a separate topic, we have opted to teach a mini research methods unit (soon to be uploaded) after the introduction. This is a mini research unit that will be taught ahead of the units (after the introduction unit). It should take approximately 11 lessons to go through the basic research methods. I am aware this is no longer necessary to be taught as an explicit unit, however we feel they need the basic knowledge to be able to answer the questions in the different units. This is a mid unit assessment that looks at research methods and the introduction to Sociology topic. I have included the feedback power point that is also the mark scheme, it provides WAGOLLS for each of the longer questions. Planned for 9-1 New Specification The lesson is intended to be a research and group presentation lesson but I have included the PDF that they would search for, and they could just present using paper and speeches rather than using ICT. Depends on your group and resources that are available. Great lesson to get them to develop presentation skills, but also develops numeracy skills.

This lesson looks at feminism and patriarchy. The main crux of the lesson is to learn about the Key Thinker Sylvia Walby and her theory of the six patriarchal structures. AQA New Specification 9-1- Lesson 1- The Functionalist Perspective.

New AQA 9-1 specification. A consolidation lesson looking at educational achievement. Internal/external factors, gender, ethnicity and social class. Students use their own book notes to complete an A3 worksheet, but a help sheet is provided if students have missed lessons and require some support. A selection of 12 mark questions are used if students complete. Ideal as a cover lesson, homework task, consolidation lesson before assessment or revision for Y11 before their exam.
