Introduction to Sociology- Consolidation Lesson (8/8)

Suitable as an introductory lesson, or a revision lesson before the exams. A cheap lesson as there wasn’t a great deal of teacher input. Students complete their quiz, do keyword bingo and then answer a series of exam questions. I like students to take a question at a time, mark a peers answer and then I live write in the powerpoint as the class create the perfect answer-including literacy! I then print the slides after the lesson and they stick these into their books.

AQA Sociology Introduction Unit

BTEC 9-1 Spec, GCSE Specification. Planned for AQA, but suitable for other exam boards. This unit is the same as the bundle currently in my shop. However, I needed to create a single unit resource, to be able to bundle all of the units together :) Planned as in introduction to Sociology. These lesson introduce the key sociological arguments, so that in later units you can get straight on with applying the theory to the unit. Please review if you download.

Families Key Thinker Work Booklet

Please leave a review if you download! I will be creating one for each of the units. I have created a Keythinkers (only) work booklet for students. I am planning to issue this over the Easter Holidays. Students use Cornel note taking strategies to show their understanding of each of the Key texts. There are several exam questions relating to each of the key texts to develop students confidence in using these texts.

Key Thinkers Work booklets (Perfect for Home learning)

4 Resources
Great booklets for home learning/distance learning/lockdown, either to print and send to students, or to check their knowledge and practice exam technique at home. Each unit has a work booklet that uses cornel note taking methods to show understanding of each key thinker text. Exam practice questions then follow that ask them to use the key thinkers. A mixture of 3/4/12 mark exam questions. There is also a PLC for each unit in each work booklet. But again this focuses on key thinkers. Suitable for cover, revision, distance learning or homework

Research Methods (9-1) How do Sociologists Research? (1/11)

This is a mini research unit that will be taught ahead of the units (after the introduction unit). It should take approximately 11 lessons to go through the basic research methods. I am aware this is no longer necessary to be taught as an explicit unit, however we feel they need the basic knowledge to be able to answer the questions in the different units. Lesson 1 This looks at how Sociologists conduct their research. Please review if you purchase

New Spec 9-1. Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality. The feedback lesson includes a whole-class feedback slide, and both 4 mark questions have a model answer. The students highlight and mark this answer, identifying how it is a good answer. They then attempt a new 4 mark question acting on their feedback.
