Activity on on recording time digitally. Pupils will find out when completing the challenges that they won’t be accurate. Therefore, they will want to repeat challenge reinforcing the need for repeat experiments to find averages.

This Exit Task/Plenary is designed to draw out the findings of the measuring time activities. These being that the children will learn that using a stop click to seconds and hundredths of seconds will give them a precise time. However, this is not 100% accurate due to human error (reaction times). You should discuss how to improve on accuracy ( use of repeats and find an average).

Christmas Interactive Crack the Code Wheel:This resource consists of a PowerPoint (4 slides) and a Resource Booklet (3 pages)
It is designed to be used interactively as a class to generate a code forumla for pupils to create their own secret messages in the code.
Alternatively, pupils can make their own Crack the Code wheels and create their very own personal secret code and their peers can try to crack them!
If you are creating them yourself for mass pupil use, we always suggest that you laminate them prior to assemble for longevity of use.

1 Christmas Award Ceremony: This is a fully editable PowerPoint with MUSIC. It is great for the last assembly before the Christmas holidays. It is designed to award academic excellence and to add a bit of festive fun to proceedings too.
The PowerPoint consists of over 63 slides with 25 award categories with award category slides left blank for you to add your own should you so wish. Following each award category slide is a ‘Winner is…’ slide where you can add a picture and insert the name of the pupil onto the admission ticket. This is a practical lesson introducing pupils to Newton meters.

Physics: Measuring Force, Newton Meters Lesson pack contains: A PPT (15 slides) and a peer assessment handout (1 sheet).
Activities include:
Starter Task: A Thinking Skills questions- measuring force.
Task 1: Pupils are introduced to Sir Isaac Newton and his invention, the Newton Meter. Then pupils are asked to measure everyday items and record this information in the form of a table in their exercise books.
Task 2: Pupils should then be given a spring and a hook and 5 weights (1-5 kilograms). They will need to hang the spring and add the weights one by one and measure the length of the spring each time a weight is added and record the data in the form of a table. They will then be asked to plot a line graph (you will need to provide graph paper for this task).
Task 3: Pupils will need to conclude on the results and describe the relationship between weights added and the length of the spring and link this to how a Newton meter works.
Included in this pack is a peer assessment sheet that can be used to mark the individual activities.

Lesson 8: Bunsen Burner- This is an introductory lesson on the Bunsen burner. Pupils will have the opportunity to use a bunsen burner and if successful gain a certificate and a Bunsen Burner License.
This pack contains PPT: 17 Sides Work Booklet: 8 Pages. Pupils will be taught about the history of the Bunsen burner. There is an opportunity for the teacher to model how to set up the bunsen burner. They will then have to create a flowchart on setting up a Bunsen burner. Once this is complete, pupils will take it in turns to peer assess each other on accuracy and safety. Included in this pack are A4 certificates and credit card size bunsen burner licenses. The exit task is based on our interactive 5W activity. The 5w selector will select one of the 5ws (who, what, where, when or why) and the teacher should pose questions based on this selection about the Bunsen Burner. Lesson 9: The Fire Triangle - A PPT based on a practical lesson on the fire triangle. Pupils will have created paper houses previously to burn during the lesson. Burning the paper houses practically demonstrated the fire triangle. Includes a bell task, discussion point, peer assessment, and a Pull The Udder One plenary, a tutorial on how to draw bar graphs with a differentiated bar graph worksheet.
Lesson 10: Graphs - This is an introductory lesson Teaching the pupils the different types of graphs that we use in science. By the end of this lesson pupils will have an understanding of the different types of graphs and when to use them. This resource pack contains: A PPT (23 slides) and handouts (3 sheets) .
Activities include: Starter Task: Thinking Skills question. Explanations and examples of a Bar chart, different examples of line graphs and pie charts. Class Instructions: The Emoji Selector will generate three emotions. You must press ‘spin’ to start the selector and ‘stop’ to stop it spinning.
