Write a Persuasive Movie Review FREEBIE!

Children study the similarities and differences between old and modern cinema, with a focus on special effects.
Children then watch old and new versions of the same film (eg: King Kong) and write a movie review. They can either write a review of a new film for an old audience, or of an old film for a new audience.
This resource links with two other Outcomes in the same Topic related to light and cinema:

This resource is designed to be used during Reading Workshop and is to be used with El Deafo by Cece Bell.
The pack has been designed in alignment with Common Core Reading Standards for Grade 7.

Included is a mini writing assignment that I have used for an extra credit opportunity in grades 7 and 8 ELA and Social Studies.
Students will have a background in pirates before being given the assignment, but it is also adaptable for different significant people, as well. When I have assigned it, I have also reviewed features of eulogies and compared them to different styles of writing.

Re-write the Text FREEBIE
Included is a mini writing assignment that I have used for an extra credit opportunity in Middle School ELA.
Students will a novel being studied to re-write the climax of the story. In the past, I’ve used this extra credit assignment with: Flush by Carl Hiaasen, The Weirdo by Theodore Taylor, The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, and The Last Wild by Peter Torday – all in a unit about the environment and conservation.

Including objectives from Key Stage 1, this pack has children participate in different Design and Technology activities with working Scientifically related to designing, making and evaluating their own slime.
Base slime recipes are provided - the slime can be made ahead of time for the children to evaluate, or the children can participate in the recipes to reinforce their understanding of fractions (halves).

Punctuation Dice for Key Stage 1
This resource is meant as a support or challenge for children in Key Stage 1 to include more punctuation in their writing.
Nets are printed, laminated, and made into cubes so children can use them when they are stuck with their writing. Colourless copies also included.
Singular possession, commas for lists, full stops, capital letters, exclamation and question marks are all taken from the 2014 National Curriculum of England’s document.
