Advertising the Game

Advertising the Game

(3)
This resource was used in ICT to encourage students to make their own advert, but could easily be adapted for reluctant writers or made into an assembly to show how advertising works. i.e. Selling products people do not want to buy. This resource requires a newer version of PowerPoint or the player.
How do we connect to the internet?

How do we connect to the internet?

(0)
There is a lot of jargon on how we connect to the Internet and this fully animated presentation shows you exactly how we connect to the Internet as a story. By making a story this is now suitable for students from Key Stage 2 - 5 and brings all the jargon together in a meaningful way. (Highly recommended for teaching iGCSE Internet technologies). The words have been minimized to make more accessible for students with limited vocabulary.
Calculations with Roald Dahl's Matilda

Calculations with Roald Dahl's Matilda

(3)
Although Matilda was supposed to be 5, I'd challenge any 5 year old to actually do this maths in their heads! If you are reading Matilda to a class, this is a very nice way to introduce Spreadsheets in KS2 or could be used as an exercise in KS3. You will need the book Matilda by Roald Dahl (Pages 45 - 47) to make full use of this exercise, but could be done as a standalone. Also a good example of real life Maths for a Maths lesson. (I would stress this is based on the book rather than the film, which has different Maths)
Helping the Teachers with ICT

Helping the Teachers with ICT

(2)
This project encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning and improve the use of ICT in school. This could be a one-off project in an ICT lesson, a project extension for gifted and talented or something that school council investigates. It also could also be connected to a Digital Leaders project.
Mindmap of all the English Tenses

Mindmap of all the English Tenses

(29)
I really just put this together to show off just how capable the Mind Mapping Software could be, but I am sure it must be useful for showing tenses. It was originally part of a series of lessons on learning 2 learn and how Mindmaps could be used to help with revision. The resource uses shortened English, because when I made the original materials I was teaching speaking rather than formal written documents. (For the British Council in Kuala Lumpur)
Glossary for Edexcel GCSE ICT

Glossary for Edexcel GCSE ICT

(12)
This is a simple glossary for the Edexcel GCSE ICT. It can be used as a lookup tool for students, to ensure that students have the appropriate vocabulary and to create other resources. Please let me know if there are important words missing or words you would like including. This version is not intended for printing, but for on-screen use.
Business Departments

Business Departments

(3)
This was made, because my A-level ICT students had no idea what business departments were and what they did. It is a simple sheet to make sure that students know the VERY basics.
Platformer using minimal code (Scratch)

Platformer using minimal code (Scratch)

(7)
This little platform game uses the least code, I could possibly get away with. Nice for newbies to code a 'Mario' style game. Also my students tell me its actually quite a challenging little game. Easy coding doesn't necessarily mean an easy game...

This is aimed at parents and teachers to help them understand the keywords and concepts in Computational Thinking. This professional quality presentation is ideal for parent workshops and professional training of primary teachers. Concepts covered include, Algorithms, decomposition, logic, patterns, abstraction and evaluation. (Basic Chinese is supplied to help Chinese parents, but can easily be removed)
Binary for Computer Science and Maths

Binary for Computer Science and Maths

This lesson can be taught at Key Stage 3 or in Key Stage 4 computer Science. It is also a good refresher of the basics for A-level students. The presentation guides you through all of the key content and includes answers. You also gain a Spreadsheet that enables you to make tables and new questions very quickly as well as an investigation and links to a variety of binary games.

This is a complete BTEC Unit 1 including the assignment and Scheme of Work. It has been used and moderated in the past. I hope it is useful. If you update it, please let me know and I will repost or link to the updated version.
Excel Code Cracker (NO PC Required)

Excel Code Cracker (NO PC Required)

(3)
This handy little worksheet is designed as a refresher for Spreadsheet Formulae and can be used whilst PCs are booting up or as a plenary to ensure understanding. I've used it from Year 7 through to year 11. There is also an Excel Spreadsheet with all the formulae and answers. It should be zoomed, so that you can scroll down and reveal the answers one by one.
Printable GCSE Glossary

Printable GCSE Glossary

(4)
This is a printable ICT GCSE Glossary to help students with the Edexcel GCSE in ICT. Annoyingly there is not one in the back of the students book, so I’ve tried to create this one for students folders. I’ve also included an Excel version, which can be used for resource development and on-screen viewing. Please let me know if there are any words missing.
Vanilla flavoured Quiz

Vanilla flavoured Quiz

(2)
This is a very simple multiple choice that either allows you to quickly make your own multiple choice quizzes for students to do or for students to develop their own quizzes. It's deliberately plain so that people can add their own designs and unlike most PowerPoint quiz templates this one allows you to choose any answer as the correct one. (This prevents students from simply learning the order of the quiz) It was developed to help prepare students for their Edexcel GCSE coursework and is one of the resources my colleagues keep on asking for...
iPad on Fire (Demand And Supply)

iPad on Fire (Demand And Supply)

(11)
Students very much enjoy discussing topics in Economics that are relevant to then. This little cluster of resources enables teachers to discuss the recent launch of the Kindle Fire and how it affects demand and supply for the iPad. It includes a student made poster as well in Publisher and PDF Format. Do students think this is the correct interpretation or do thet think they could do it better? (This resource could also be used for ICT when discussing new technology.)
